dPrasse,
I don't think you know brownback well enough. He is a hardline, open borders, no fence, amnesty advocate. There is not a chance in hell he would pair with Tancredo, or that I would vote for this traitor.
Max
PS National Review: "Brownback supported both the McCain-Feingold campaign-finance law (initially, at least) and the McCain-Kennedy immigration bill"

I said "At First glance" ...
Explains why his website has no "Immigration" issue ...
Thanks for the update ... so , Brownback is just another Rudy/McCain ?

With the War on Terror ongoing, we need a president who is a leader with the guts to do whatever is necessary to win that war. If Tancredo and Brownback were the kind of leaders we need in this time of crisis, they would be more than just backbenchers in Congress.

To be fair, Brownback would be an ideal conservative (95% ACU rating) if not for his obsession with open borders. He has a very compassionate streak (hence his prison reform activism, which I happen to admire), but it leads hiim to being as committed as McCain to no borders. I recall reading one story where he teared up once when getting upset over conservative attempts to get a fence built.
Sad really...and so stupid. To give you an idea:
BROWNBACK AND McCAIN BACK SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS
In rejecting an amendment by Senator John Ensign (R-Nev.), the U.S. Senate voted "to allow illegal aliens to collect Social Security benefits based on past illegal employment – even if the job was obtained through forged or stolen documents.
" ‘There was a felony they were committing, and now they can’t be prosecuted. That sounds like amnesty to me,’ said Sen. John Ensign, the Nevada Republican who offered the amendment yesterday to strip out those provisions of the immigration reform bill. ‘It just boggles the mind how people could be against this amendment.’ The Ensign amendment was defeated on a 50-49 vote." Source: Charles Hurt, The Washington Times, 5/19/06, pp. A1, 14
GOP Senators who voted (H. Roll Call 130, 5/18/06) to allow Social Security benefits for illegal aliens were: Brownback (KS), Chafee (R.I.), DeWine (Ohio), Graham (S.C.), Hagel (Neb.), Lugar (Ind.), Martinez (Fla.), McCain (Ariz.), Specter (Penn.), Stevens (Alaska), and Voinovich (Ohio).

Well well ... interesting ... allowing illegals to collect SS is worse than just "allowing" them to be here ... it is adding them to the burden of SS ...

Yep...
I doubt Newt will run, and Tancredo is too much a long shot.
So it looks like Mitt is my man. Not ideal, but better than McVain and Rudi.
And in the end, I can put up with Rudi's politics..BUTTTTT NEVER MCCAIN

Here's an idea.. vote for the guy best qualified (in my view, that would be a 'conservative') in the primary and try to convince others to do the same based on those qualifications, and not on popularity or polls, in the primary.

Mitt on the 2nd Amendment ?
At least with Brownback , I can defend myself against personal attacks from the illegals here already ;)

Thing is, you can get away with sneaky stuff on the back bench that you can't when you're up in front where all the cameras are at.

There are two and only two issues that should be the focus of the GOP: Islamofascist terrorism and the invasion of America by criminals and parasites from Mexico. If those are not addressed, nothing else will matter.

As far as I see it ... defense of the 2nd amendment is important in both ...
So , I need a candidate that is willing to carry on the fight against Muzzie assbandits , will enforce our borders from the assbanditos , and one that is not opposed to me defending myself from domestic threats

Tancredo is too much a long shot.
Why?
From what I've read and heard (SO FAR), he is almost everything a conservative is looking for. What am I missing on him? Why is he a long shot?
