Jesus: Tales from the Crypt (http://time-blog.com/middle_east/2007/02/jesus_tales_from_the_crypt.html)

Brace yourself. James Cameron, the man who brought you 'The Titanic' is back with another blockbuster. This time, the ship he's sinking is Christianity.

In a new documentary, Producer Cameron and his director, Simcha Jacobovici, make the starting claim that Jesus wasn't resurrected --the cornerstone of Christian faith-- and that his burial cave was discovered near Jerusalem. And, get this, Jesus sired a son with Mary Magdelene.

No, it's not a re-make of "The Da Vinci Codes'. It's supposed to be true.

Man's ever ongoing quest to kill God is futile at best.

When I was at the University years ago, we studied the life and some of the writings of one Francois Marie Arouet. But, there are very few people who recognize him by that name. His pen name was Voltaire. He was born in 1694 and he died in 1778. He is considered by many to be France’s greatest writer and philosopher. I do not argue that he was an intellectual giant among men of his age. But, he was a fool biblically speaking, because he was an outspoken critic of the Bible and he did not believe in God. Further, he sought to debunk biblical salvation through Christ. He said, "It took centuries to build up Christianity, but, I’ll show how one Frenchman can destroy it within 50 years." Then as one author wrote, "He took his pen, dipped it into the ink of unbelief and wrote against God."

In his later years (1759) Voltaire purchased an estate called "Ferney" near the French-Swiss border where he lived and wrote his Anti-God, Anti-Christ material. He was convinced that he could destroy Christianity and the Bible. He believed that people would become so enlightened that they would neither believe in God, the Bible or their need of Salvation through Jesus Christ.

[snip]

There is something else the about Voltaire you should know. Twenty years after his death the Geneva Bible Society bought his former home and used it for printing Bibles. It later became the headquarters for the British and Foreign Bible Society. This fool Frenchman made a vain boast. And now for eternity he shares the fate of all the fools who have rejected God.The Existence of God (http://logosresourcepages.org/Believers/existence.htm)

God's sense of irony is impeccable.

But film-makers Cameron and Jacobovici claim to have amassed evidence through DNA tests, archeological evidence and Biblical studies, that the 10 coffins belong to Jesus and his family.

DNA? To prove this is Jesus? What did Cameron do, swab his own to cheek to get a sample of God's DNA?

Didn't Cameron also make Terminator?

Who needs the movie? People believe what they want to believe, with or without a profit-oriented huckster trying to sell them snake oil.

For every wisecrack that was ever made about televangelism and televangelists...there should be an equal amount of smarm fall on this guy's head. He's the same kind of creature, ironically peddling the antithetical wares of his enemies.

Someone tell Leonard Nimoy that his "In Search Of: Biblical Jesus" episode is being "trumped" by a guy with all the answers.

If there's anyone on this planet with a perceived ego large enough to eclipse God, it's James Cameron.:flame:

Here (http://www.townhall.com/columnists/BrentBozellIII/2007/02/28/what_bones_of_jesus) is Brent Bozell's relpy to this new anti-Christian nonsense.

The ever-stupid Christophobes think that because Jesus was a man, He had all man's faults. That's because a) it helps them deny Christ's divinity, b) they cannot conceive on anyone superior to them. Especially, someone morally superior to them.

Liberals judge everyone by themselves. That's why you hear them bray "You're going to tell me that Christ spent every day with Mary Magdalene at his side and He never slept with her?! Impossible! He was human, wasn't He?!" This is not surprising, considering it comes from the same idiots who elected a sexually incontinent poon for the highest office, and then were forced to mumble "It's just sex and everybody does it" to justify the sexual escapades of their Rapist-in Chief.

It's no good trying to explain to these boobs that Christ came to earth with a mission (if you will), and that that mission was to suffer and die in order to give us eternal life. That He did not come here on vacation, and got married in the process. No. All liberals want to hear is that Christ was a MAN. And therefore, He must have done what all men do: drink, smoke, curse, and sleep with women.

It's no good trying to explain to them that Christians do not reject the idea that Christ was married because there's anything wrong with a man being married, but because we know that that's NOT what He came to earth for.

But you try telling liberals that. They throw one of their typical tantrums. They must, you understand. The first step to abolish religion is to "debunk" it. So they must try to "debunk" Christ's divinity and the afterlife that His death gave us. Then, Jesus will be the mild-tempered hippy who "cared for the poor" (as liberals like to portray Him). Only then, will He become acceptable to liberals.

You know what I've always found strangely fascinating? If God doesn't really exist, Jesus wasn't really divine, and religion/faith is bogus, WHY do they put so much effort into trying to "debunk" it all? Seems to me they'd just want to keep away from the kooks who believe, and treat them as non-entities as well.

There's much truth to the old saying, "Methinks they doth protest too much!" :smirky: God is so much bigger than man, how arrogant of man to say He has to fit into the mold we create for Him -- He must PROVE His Divinity, "if God is real, why does He allow bad things to happen?," etc. God doesn't play by OUR rules; existence itself plays by His (rules).

No where better does the old joke belong to be applied than here:

Man tells God, You aren't relevant anymore, You aren't real. I can do all the things that You can do. God says, Okay, tell you what. How about a little contest to prove that." Man says, "Sure." The Lord says, "Okay create man in your own image." Man grabs two fists full of dust to begin, and God says, "Wait a minute -- get your OWN dirt!"

Athiests insist God must comply with and follow man's rules, without realizing HE created the game to begin with, :smirky: .

Because they don't only want to get rid of the idea of God, but also of everything he stands for. If God disappears from the picture, so does the concept of sin. Then, homosexuality, abortion, euthanasia, same-sex marriage and all other aberrations so dear to liberals' heart (or whatever passes for it) will cease to be sinful and liberals will finally be able to make them the law of the land without restrictions from those redneck bible-thumpers. It's the long-term effect they are interested in.
