View Full Version : AG Gonzales: Put Gang Bangers in Cub Scouts

That'll cure the problem. Interesting that the AG thinks it is "unfortunate" that he has to prosecute gang members. Compassionate conservatism just gets more compassionate every day. But then the growth area for gangs is among mexican and latin american illegals. And we sure don't want to offend them, do we?
In too many communities young boys choose to join a gang rather than a Little League team or a Cub Scout troop. Gangs shatter the dreams of those who succumb to their false promises and wreak havoc on nearly everyone in their path.
The Department-wide gang strategy that I announced last summer is in full swing, and I've received comprehensive plans from every U.S. attorney's office. They contain specific solutions to specific gang problems in each area. . . .
I'm also pleased to announce that we will launch a new anti-gang program in six cities that will help us to combat some of the worst, most violent gangs in the country. This new program will focus on three areas: prevention, targeted enforcement, and prisoner re-entry.
We'll start with prevention. Working to address the personal, family, and community factors that cause young people to choose gangs over better, safer, and more productive alternatives. The more success we can have in this area, the fewer people we'll have to prosecute for violent activity down the road.
Unfortunately, that will always be a need for enforcement. So the second part of the program will provide grants to help law enforcement target the most significant violent gang offenders and lock them up so they can no longer threaten their communities.

When it comes to mexicans, especially illegals in this country, Bush and his justice department intend to make us lick their arse. Gonzales' plan makes Clinton's midnight basketball look like an Arctic survival camp.

Exactly why US Border Agents are in far worse trouble for discharging a firearm at an ILLEGAL , DRUG RUNNING Mexican than the dope runners are in ...

Lest some of us fall prey to more misrepresentations, go to the link and read it. Gonzalez never said we should put gang members in the Cub Scouts, nor did he say that it was unfortunate that he has to prosecute gang members.

Yeah, don't believe your lying eyes. Believe what Rhino says instead.

If you re-read my post, you'll find that I told them to read the link. It proves what I said. In fact, one of the excerpts you posted also proves what I said. You should learn to read more critically.

I don't need instruction in critical reading or thinking from an apologist for the DOJ. Indeed, let people follow the link. That is why I put it there. I knew when I posted this that you would pop in to try and quibble. You always do. But readers can see that what Gonzales wants to do is coddle gang bangers. Give them money, assistance, help, and understanding.
Lastly, we want to ensure that offenders returning to society don't go back to their violent ways. This new initiative will support re-entry assistance that includes everything from transitional housing and job placement, to substance abuse and mental health treatment.
We will also expand the Bureau of Prisons' Life Connections Program that provides like skills, education in concert with each prisoner's spirituality or faith.
When offenders get a second chance to give up illegal guns and violence, we have a responsibility to arm them with the skills and support they need to pursue the American dream.
The American dream? He's worried about giving convicted gang members access to the American dream? Most of them should be deported, because, again, that is where the rise in membership is coming from, latin illegals. And, when an AG says "Unfortunately, that [sic] will always be a need for enforcement", what do you think he means? Especially, after he's juxtaposed his words against an argument for giving gang bangers taxpayer aid to "pursue the American dream".
It is obvious to any reasonable person that Gonzales is coddling these swine. And if the above isn't enough, how about the transcript from Lou Dobbs' program, in which Gonzales says of gang bangers: "These are individuals who have run into a spell of tough luck." http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0703/05/ldt.01.html

I don't need instruction in critical reading or thinking from an apologist for the DOJ.LOL! That's it?
Indeed, let people follow the link. That is why I put it there. I knew when I posted this that you would pop in to try and quibble. You always do.Pointing out that your claims were not true, but rather distortions, is hardly quibbling. It's called facts.
But readers can see that what Gonzales wants to do is coddle gang bangers. Give them money, assistance, help, and understanding.I wasn't addressing that. I was addressing only the two false claims that you made.
The American dream? He's worried about giving convicted gang members access to the American dream? Most of them should be deported, because, again, that is where the rise in membership is coming from, latin illegals. The illegals are deported.
And, when an AG says "Unfortunately, that [sic] will always be a need for enforcement", what do you think he means?Just what it says, that it's unfortunate that we will never be able to eliminate crime completely, and that there will therefore always be a need for enforcement.
Especially, after he's juxtaposed his words against an argument for giving gang bangers taxpayer aid to "pursue the American dream".Actually, most of his references to the American dream were relating to reducing crime, not as something for the offendors. From the one reference I saw relating to the offendors, he was speaking of reducing recividism. I'm all for that, although I grant you that many efforts in that arena at taxpayer expense have not been successful in the past, so a debate on the merits of spending more money on it could certainly be made. But again, that was not what I was addressing in my original post anyway.
It is obvious to any reasonable person that Gonzales is coddling these swine. No, it isn't. Providing a means to reintegrate back into society as a contributing member rather than as a gang member is hardly coddling.
And if the above isn't enough, how about the transcript from Lou Dobbs' program, in which Gonzales says of gang bangers: "These are individuals who have run into a spell of tough luck." http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0703/05/ldt.01.htmlDifferent subject entirely, and also one that I did not address. You obviously don't like Gonzalez. He isn't exactly my favorite person either, but I don't let that cloud my judgement to the point that I would claim that he said something that he did not.
Now, Rhino, go ahead and explain how we unz is jes too stoopid at understanden all dem highfalutin conzeps dats only you unz is smartz enuf tos esplane to da resof usens.Because the rest of us can read. And if you haven't noticed, you are the only one who made the false claims. None of the "resof usens" has.

Ah, I see. Only Rhino has "facts". Anyone else has "claims". You really ought to venture out of your bunker more often. Visit a library. Take a poetry class. Study a novel. It helps the more rigid mentalities. Learn to read and stop trying to be a lawyer.

That's how I knew your claims were false, and also why I recommended others read it as well, so they could conclude as they see fit instead of taking either your word or mine. And, you're hardly the one to lecture others on rigid mentalities.
Oh, yeah. Poetry sucks. I do love a good novel though. I have a library full of them at my house.

The AG has his head up his nether regions. Why ruin the cub scouts? These gang bangers have already cost the taxpayers of the US too much money. Send them back to Africa or South America and let them see how hard it is to survive "back home" in the real hood.

The AG has his head up his nether regions. Why ruin the cub scouts?Exactly my point. You didn't read the link. The only time he mentioned the scouts was when he said "In too many communities young boys choose to join a gang rather than a Little League team or a Cub Scout troop." He never said we should put gang members in the scouts, or on a Little League team for that matter. If he had, then I would agree with your assessment, and that of Dowple. One should take care of taking statements at face value without checking the facts. Some people here tend to senstionalize. Others simply lie outright. You should always check before taking their statements at face value. And yes, that includes my statements too.

You have to admit, though.. at first glance you'd think the story to be true, given some of the bizarre twists and turns of this administration on a few issues.

Rhino is right. The article mentioned choices made by gang members. It didn't mention putting gang bangers in the Cub Scouts. The second part is that the AG is sorry that there is a need for law enforcement, but that the fact remains that it is needed. Dowple, sometimes people just need to admit they're wrong and move on with our lives. In this case you're like my mom: you'd rather be right than correct.
