Former Congressman Mike Sodrel was on the AM 1370 Afternoon Edition earlier today and met with supporters in Bloomington this evening. After hearing Mike talk, I hope he runs again in 2008. With a Presidential election leading the ticket and Indiana's status as a reliable Republican state, I think that Sodrel can win again. I encouraged him to run when I called into the radio. Later, I told him in person that I hope he runs in 2008 and that I will support him if he does.
Mike Sodrel was one of the few people in Congress who understands liberty and the dangers of a government that is too powerful. People like Sodrel, Ron Paul and John Hostettler are far too rare in the Republican Party. Sodrel understands that a big reason the Republicans lost Congress is that the GOP abandoned the principles of limited government and individual liberty. We simply cannot win elections as "Democrat Lite".
