Lefty word-watchdogs and their allies in the mainstream media have hurt feelings … again. As per usual, liberals are frothing at the mouth in a fit of very selective, self-righteous indignation over provocative comments made by Ann Coulter and are hunting the conservative firebrand with pitchforks, torches and rope in hand.

While addressing an audience at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) last Friday, Coulter joked in her trademark fashion that, “I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate, John Edwards, but it turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word ‘faggot,’ so I – so kind of an impasse, can’t really talk about Edwards.”

In this photo released by NBC Universal, host Jay Leno, not seen, speaks with Ann Coulter during taping of "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," on Wednesday, June 14, 2006, in Burbank, Calif. The syndicator of Coulter's newspaper columns rejected allegations, Monday, July 10, 2006, that she had lifted material from other sources, saying a review of the work in question turned up nothing that merited concern. And the proverbial fan was thusly and most directly hit.

Admittedly, Coulter employed unusually abrasive and bombastic language – even for her – to make a point; but ironically, the reaction she’s getting from the left (and from some on the right) would seem to quite precisely demonstrate the apparent thrust of her prickly comments. Perhaps that was part of her intention.

If you want to hate someone for their political beliefs, it really doesn't matter what was said...or implied.

I tend to distrust people with far-left beliefs without even getting to know them. But I cannot say that I really hate anyone though.

I'm still waiting for some white male candidate to stand up in public somewhere and say, "Enough of the double standard. The MSM have protected the Left for decades now and I'm calling them on it.

"Sheets Byrd says 'nigger' and the news doesn't raise hell with him. Queers say "queer" or "faggot" and nobody in the MSM cares. Dudes in the 'hood say "nigga" and nobody cares. Jesse Jackson calls NYC 'Hymietown' and nobody cares. Charlie Rangel calls somebody a nazi or a klansman and nobody cares. Rabid feminists put up pictures of perfectly innocent young men campus bulletin boards with the caption, "Potential rapist," and nobody cares. Julian Bond says someone is from the Taliban wing of conservative politics and nobody cares. John Kerry publicly uses the vilest language and nobody cares. Patrick Leahy insults the vice president and nobody cares. Jim Webb insults the president and nobody cares. William "Cold Cash" Jefferson is caught red-handed with bribe money and nobody cares. Bill Clinton perjures himself and obstructs justice, and nobody cares. The New York Times publishes national secrets and nobody cares.

"A conservative says or does something far more tame than any of that, and the media explode and carry it for weeks and we never hear the end of it.

"I'm not playing that game. I'm going to say what I think. Your feelings get hurt, get over it. You don't like it, get over it. You don't like me, get over it.

"The First Amendment applies to conservatives as well as niggers, liberal hymies, faggots, towelheads, feminists, skinheads and wetbacks.

"Whining, lying, liberal-bigot America, get over yourself. You get nasty with me, I get nasty right back in the identical language you have used for decades on conservatives. I don't feel your pain and I don't care if you like me."
