A ruling from the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has concluded that municipal employers have the right to censor the words "natural family," "marriage" and "family values" because that is hate speech and could scare workers.

The ruling came in a case being handled by the Pro-Family Law Center, which promised an appeal of the drastic result.

They are only supposed to consider the aspects of the case specifically enumerated in the appeal, and specifically addressed by the attorneys. If it isn't in the appeal, or if something in the appeal is incorrect, they aren't supposed to rule outside of those aspects. In short, if they hear an appeal with improper case cites, the appeal will fail even if the correct cites would have supported it.
