Hummingbirds love the color red... You will notice that most hummingbird feeders are bright red and the sugar-based hummingbird food that goes in them is also colored bright red...

They are also very territorial - will not tolerate another hummingbird on their turf... Every year they migrate to South America for the winter, but will return in the summer to the exact place they staked out as home the year before... So if you can attract one to your house with a feeder, you should put it back out the next year because the little guy will be lookin for it when he comes home...

They are amazing little critters... :)
