Thompson Takes Bites Out of Giuliani, Romney (http://www.nysunpolitics.com/blog/2007/03/thompson-takes-bites-out-of.html)

Ultimately, however, I'll go with the headline I've chosen above: "Thompson Takes Bites Out of Giuliani, Romney." While the usual caveats apply about the ridiculous earliness of all of these polls — and, now, the fact that voters know precisely zero about Fred Thompson past what they know of him from "Law & Order" — this is a clear data point on the question of just who is hurt by a Thompson candidacy.

And that is, as I predicted, Mitt Romney (who dropped from 8% to 3% when Thompson was added to the poll), and as I did not in any way predict, Rudy Giuliani, who, again, lost 13 percentage points.

If it's the Hildebeast vs. Julie Annie in '08, I'm writing in Fred Thompson (unless he's the running mate).

I am debating over Fred Thompson and Mitt Romney. As much as I like Mitt Romney, he is hardly electable because of his "flip-flopping." I may go with Fred if he officially declares himself a candidate, and if he keeps a respectable image.

His "What Would Gandhi Do" soundbite is a simple, yet revealing analysis of the anti-war movement.

After listening to it some half a dozen times, I saw him as a leader, yet one who can relate well to the rest of us.

I'm also impressed that he has a grasp on the border issue. I don't know if he's changed his mind on guest worker programs and a path to citizenship, but time will tell.

Rudy Giuliani must be stopped. I can only imagine the chokehold of the Rules of Engagement getting worse if he is elected, among many other concerns.

Realistically, I think we can win with a Thompson/Romney ticket.

Personally, I'd rather see a Thompson/Tancredo ticket...

I could go for Romney in the second spot with FDT heading the ticket.

I like Tandredo, but I don't think he sands a chance of getting he top sopt.

BUT Would J.C.Watts ALSO come out of retirement from active political service to join Fred Thompson? I like J.C.Watts -- I recommend getting and reading his book "What color is a conservative? : my life and my politics".

Thompson/Tancredo I like the most.
Thompson/Romney I could take as Romney, in the event of a senatorial tie vote, would HAVE to vote what his president wants, not what the voters of Massholechusetts would want.

This is just a what if? What if Sen Thompson should choose Rudy as his VP in order to try and pick off a blue state like say PA? Just a what if...

I can't see Senator Thompson PICKING Rudy, but I can see the GOP trying to force him to accept Rudy in echange for their backing of a Thompson candidacy. More realistically, since Senator Thompson and John McCain are friends, it's more reasonably likely that he could choose him as a running mate. But I just don't see Senator Thompson picking either of them (other than being pressured by outside forces.) I really can't imagine either happening, but neither could I imagine Hitlery running for office in NY, of all places, and winning. I guess anything's possible.

I would have to seriously pray about whether or not to vote for Senator Thompson, should either of those scenarios come true.

I like Thompson/Watts (or Michael Steele or Lynn Swann)

As far as a Thompson/Guilliani or Thompson/McCain victory...think Bush41.

The Republican LEADERSHIP has the future of the party in their hands. They can try and strongarm Fred into accepting Guilliani as his running mate...but they can't make US vote for that ticket. I WILL NOT vote for a liberal. Period. End of discussion. In the imfamous words of the last VP they forced upon a good presidential candidate, "Read OUR lips, NO MORE LIBERALS!!!!!!!"

Capice?
