Burger King to Switch to Cage-Free Eggs and Pork

Wednesday, March 28, 2007

MIAMI — Animal rights advocates praised Burger King for its new commitment to begin buying eggs and pork from suppliers that do not keep their animals in cages or crates.

"We certainly hope that people will order the BK Veggie Burger when they go into Burger King," said Matt Prescott, spokesman for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. "But the fact that Burger King has made positive changes for some of the animals killed for its restaurants will send a ripple effect through the fast food industry and show other companies that animal welfare cannot be ignored."

PETA has been critical of the fast food giant in the past......http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,261903,00.html

I haven't eaten at Burger King in years. We had two in our town and they both had retards working there. Their mascot gives me the shivers also.

Wolf Counsel's retards are "normal people with a normal IQ, but who keep their brain locked and unloaded at all times. The modern term for those is "f**ktards", a neologism created from "f**king" and "retards".

Breakfast taquitos, I guess. I don't eat there, either. Fact is, I tend to steer away from all the burger chains. Most of them hire mouth-breathing morons (that sounds so much nicer than ritards, no?) that are incapable of getting the order right, let alone dispensing change without a calculator.

Yeah I forgot about breakfast. Sausage and Bacon I guess. Fast food is what you buy when you can't make real food for lack of time or facilities.

Pork??? What do they have at Burger King that is made out of Pork? :lol:Its the new Pork Quarter Pounder called the "Hogger"...

I used to get the Double Hogger with Cheese until I discovered that the cheese was being raised in tiny cages... .....

I suppose they are referring to their breakfast menu...

This story just illustrates how the PETA people are just clueless, isolated, ignorant, spoiled brats who have no association with reality... I have never seen a commercial poultry or swine operation that kept the animals in cages or crates...

Chickens are raised in long sheds where hundreds of birds roam loose (or lounge languidly, as chickens are wont to do) - And hogs are raised in roughly the same arrangement, only the facility is bigger and includes a large outdoor, fenced lot for piggy roaming... Individual cages or crates would be cost ineffective and serve no purpose...

PETA lives in PETA fantasyland where they imagine these animals being kept in solitary confinement and force-fed using some diabolical device consisting of tubes and vats of nutrient-laden sugar syrups designed to fatten the beast in the shortest amount of time... To PETA, all commercial animals are treated like veal calves...

Im not so sure Burger King is so much "caving" as they are sitting around the boardrood table snickering at PETA's gross ignorance... In truth I doubt Burger King has made any actual policy change since they have likely never bought animal products raised in the imaginary fantasy prison that PETA believes exists out there...

I guess they don't have any sand monkeys working at Burger King. How could they handle the other white meat?

I don't care for BK's breakfasts, but I do like Mickey D's breakfast burritos and the Egg McMuffin meal.
