NEW YORK (Reuters) - A life-size sculpture of a naked Jesus made out of chocolate has angered a Roman Catholic organisation and forced a Manhattan art gallery to reconsider exhibiting it during Easter week.
The sculpture "My Sweet Lord" by Cosimo Cavallaro was to be exhibited for two hours each day next week in a street-level window of the Roger Smith Lab Gallery in Midtown Manhattan. It was set to open on Monday, days before Good Friday when Christians mark the crucifixion of Jesus.

When everything is art, nothing is art, q.v., "Piss Christ" and the Virgin Mary splattered with elephant dung. Let the idiots gain their 15 minutes of fame by flaunting their loathing of God in this life. One day they'll stand before Him Whom they mocked, and He will not be amused. And then they'll have forever to regret their foolishnessness.

(CNSNews.com) - A Manhattan art gallery cancelled plans Friday to exhibit a life-sized naked Jesus made out of chocolate during the Easter season after news of the exhibit ignited anger among the Catholic community.
The "My Sweet Lord" display was created by artist Cosimo Cavallaro and made out of more than 200 pounds of chocolate. It shows Christ stretched out as if on the cross.
"The media have reported that a so-called 'work of art,' manifestly intended to offend the Christians of our community, will be displayed during Holy Week in the Roger Smith Hotel in Manhattan," Cardinal Edward Egan, archbishop of New York, said in a statement.Chocolate Jesus Display Shut Down After Catholic Outcry (http://www.cnsnews.com/ViewCulture.asp?Page=/Culture/archive/200703/CUL20070330d.html)
The heathens will have to get their giggles elsewhere.

Now that would be art !!
But , it would have to be made of camel dung to be accurate ...
Christ is as good (ok , way better .. but in edible terms ... )as fine chocolate ...
Allah is as good as camel dung ...

Interesting contrast: no riots by offended Christians over a chocolate naked Jesus, but cartoons of Mohammad sent the ragheads into a tizzy!

Interesting, indeed. Seeing as how they are considered followers of the Religion of Peace, while Christians are considered hateful, bigotted, etc.
BTW, I made the mistake of looking at the photo of the "art" exhibit. I know God is all-merciful. But I sincerely hope He will make an exception in the case of this Cavallaro bastard. :flame:

Cavallaro's past efforts include repainting a Manhattan hotel room in melted mozzarella, spraying five tons of pepper jack cheese on a Wyoming home and festooning a four-poster bed with 312 pounds of processed ham.Holy Week Angst Over Naked Chocolate Jesus (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/03/29/entertainment/main2627264.shtml?source=RSSattr=HOME_2627264)
What's appalling is that there are "intellectual" idiots who call him an artist.

Jesus probably has a sense of humor.

Oh I'm sure the Lord has a sense of humor, but I'm just as sure it doesn't consist of a repertoire of "South Park" humor, :nono:
I think it's really good. Plays on the whole Chocolate Bunny nonsense which I personally think is far more offensive than a nude Christ.
