SPEARSVILLE, La. (AP) -- Two fifth-graders had sex on a classroom floor while two others fondled each other in the classroom, according to a teacher at Spearsville High School.

Union Parish Superintendent Judy Mabry would say only that the allegations were being investigated; Principal Frank Futch said the incident was not indicative of how the school is run.

First-year teacher Michael Walker, who teaches fifth- through eighth-grade English, said three students were either expelled or sent to an alternative school and two others got detention.

Students at the kindergarten through 12th grade school are unruly, disrespectful and rarely disciplined, Walker said.

"They cuss at the teachers and throw things at them, and nothing is done," Walker said. "There was even one student who grabbed a teacher in the butt and nothing was done. The students run the school."

This is why we can't pass laws requiring parental notification if their crumb crunchers want to get birth control pills or condoms, or have an abortion. It would be an admission to the parents that the schools aren't taking care of their kids.

That might lead to more homeschooling.

I actually beleive this. I know how kids are and age is no longer an issue when it come sexual activity amongst pre-teens. Parents dont guide their children in any way, schools dont excerise resonable authority, and there are no consequences that properly deter deviant behavior. I am not surprised at all if this is exactly what happened.

We may be missing an important fact. The article simply says they are fifth-graders. It doesn't say how many times they have been fifth-graders. For all we know, they could be sixteen or seventeen years old. But even if they aren't, many kids that age do know what to do with their peepees.
