Hooters chain reportedly to open two new China joints

U.S. restaurant chain Hooters Inc., famous for its spicy chicken wings and buxom waitresses in skimpy orange runner shorts, will expand in China by opening 2 restaurants, sources familiar with the matter said yesterday.

Hooters, which targets mostly male customers and calls its female waitresses 'Hooters Girls', opened its first branch in China three years ago in Shanghai.

Hooters plans to open two new outlets - one in Beijing and one in the eastern historical city of Suzhou - before the end of the year to attract businessmen and expatriates, entertainment industry sources told Reuters.

They added that Hooters' Beijing outlet, near the Workers' Stadium, would open in the first half of this year.

I was riding the bus last week & the driver of the bus got a lil upset when we drove past a building being constructed that was gonna be a new Hooters. He thought it was absolutely terrible that Hooter's was coming to Ft. Smith, AR, saying that he hopes they go bankrupt, how they "exploit" women, yada yada yada (I guess he must be deeply religious).

I kept my mouth shut 'cuz I didn't wanna create a scene, but I thought to myself, "None of the women who work there are forced to work there, they know what they are doing, & could apply for a job somewhere else if they chose to. They decided to work @ Hooters for a purpose, so who the f*#k are you to decide who's being exploited?".

I went on radio to say that Hooterphobes should apply the same "principle" pro-pornography people applied to the anti-pornography crowd: don't look at/go into/read it. I also said that female beauty was nothing to be ashamed of as it is also a gift from God, and that the only ones who were offended by the existance - and praise - of female beauty are ugly, hairy, fat feminazis.

(AP) ATLANTA Hooters, the restaurant chain known for its tasty wings and scantily clad servers, is heading to Israel.

Atlanta-based Hooters of America Inc. said in a statement Monday that it has reached a franchise deal with llana and Ofer Ahiraz to open the first Hooters restaurant this year in Israel, with several more locations in Israel to follow.

The first location will be in Tel Aviv, Hooters spokesman Mike McNeil said Tuesday. The franchisees are from Israel. Eventually, other parts of the country may be considered for locations, but there have been no formal decisions about where, McNeil said.

"For the most part, it will be identical to what you're going to see in the United States -- the same uniform for the girls, chicken wings and burgers," he said.
