What Liberals and Terrorists Want:
1. For the US to leave Iraq and stop trying to “impose democracy” on the Middle East;
2. For the US to stop supporting, defending, and supplying arms to Israel;
3. For the US to “support our troops” by taking them out of harm’s way;
4. A constant stream of front-page stories in the media about “atrocities” committed by US soldiers;
5. Constant claims that the US “can’t win” against terrorists;
6. News reports portraying terrorists as unstoppable supervillans: sort of like Lex Luthor only a little smarter and a lot more pious;
7. More dialogue between elected western officials and self-proclaimed terrorist "leaders;"
8. No action taken to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons;
9. George Bush out of office;
10. Worldwide unity, and an end to all this violence.
I put this list together a while back after I constantly found myself using "liberals and terrorists" as a single phrase when talking about the war on terror; especially when it comes to media coverage. Frankly, I don't see a hair's width of difference between them.
I don't recall ever hearing a liberal refer to any terrorist in anything less than reverential terms. To hear liberals tell it, these mental basket cases are the closest things liberals have to gods: We are powerless before them; we must honor their every whim; if we oppose them, our soldiers will all be slaughtered like hapless sheep; for every one that's killed, ten more spring like mythical beasts from the desert sands...
Seriously, can somebody show me a recent New York Times article on terrorism that doesn't look like it was written by Osama bin Ladin's publicist?
