A stretch of highway in Fred Thompson's hometown will not be named after him because the former U.S. senator -- and potential presidential candidate -- asked state lawmakers to withdraw the proposal.
Must be nice to not have everything in your state named after one senator ... I wouldn't know.

He's looking better all the time. Of course, with all the baggage that each of his (potential) opponents, Democrat and Republican, has, it's not too difficult.

His best recommendation is the sincerity that radiates from him, visible in all the movies he's been a part of. He appeals to people viscerally and with with no effort.
Ah feels ya in mah intest tine, Freddy

Thompson said in the letter that his father's car dealership was located along the road, but added that "it is entirely appropriate that it remains Highway 43, the way I remember it was when I was a boy."He's got a bit of a grandfatherly charm to him, doesn't he?

Hope not. I don't know what I'll do if he does not decide to run. I doubt there will be anybody worthy of my vote.

It will make the '08 election about as exciting as a root canal.

 Giuliani's recent declaration that he supports abortion rights, while personally opposing abortion, has made me decide that I will not support him, should he win the nomination.

It will make the '08 election about as exciting as a root canal.More importantly, it will be as painful.
:(
If Fred or someone equally palatable isn't on the ticket, I'll write in his name.
If Hillary's the Democrat(ic) nominee, and Julie Annie is the standard-bearer for the GOP, keep me away from any and all instruments of death: guns, knives, gas, sleeping pills, pictures of Helen Thomas, and so on.
