I must confess that I am disappointed at the reaction from the Rutgers players to Imus' incredibly stupid remarks.
Here's part of what they said:
NEW YORK -- The Rutgers women's basketball coach and several of her players expressed pain and outrage at the racially charged comments Don Imus made about them, saying he overshadowed their success with remarks that degraded women across the globe.
-----
At the same time, she spoke in glowing terms about her players, who had made it to the finals of the NCAA women's basketball championship before losing to Tennessee.
"These young ladies before you are valedictorians, future doctors, musical prodigies, and yes, even Girl Scouts," said Stringer. "These young ladies are the best this nation has to offer and we are so very fortunate to have them here at Rutgers University."
-----
"We were stripped of this moment by a degrading comment by Mr. Imus," she said.

Now before you all jump at my throat, let me explain why I am disappointed.
While it's true that I am not black, I AM a woman. I have a university degree, I earn my living (always have), I am considered intelligent even by some of my most ardent opposers in this website and others.
Which is why I never, EVER, would have empowered a senile schmuck (pardon me) like Don Imus by playing the victim and whining about how he offended me.
I resent these two comments in particular: This one: "... he overshadowed their success with remarks that degraded women across the globe"
Speak for yourself, sister. No aging coke-headed drunk degrades ME. I simply do not allow it. Eleanor Roosevelt said it better: No one can make you feel inferior without your consent. Thank you, Eleanor!
And this other comment: "We were stripped of this moment by a degrading comment by Mr. Imus," she said.
Say what?! Let's see: a coke-head old fart like Don Imus strips a group of valedictorians, future doctors, musical prodigies, and ... Girl Scouts of their triumph simply by shooting his mouth? That's it. That's all it takes for these very capable women to forget all they achieved and cower into a corner. So much for "I'm a woman, hear me roar!"
If I'd been one of these girls, I would have told the press that I was amused by that poor bastard Don Imus, who now has to battle senility as well as alcoholism and drug addiction, or words to that effect. Never mind whether he's sober or not; he doesn't act it, so put HIM on the defensive. Deride him. Make fun of him. AND I would have made it very clear that I choose who I will be offended by, and that a drunk old fart like Imus doesn't qualify.
Unfortunately, we live in the Era of the Culture of Victimhood. Everybody and his grandmother is a victim, just waiting to be offended/degraded/belittled. And why not? Apparently, it's so easy. Nobody has the stamina to answer back, to kick @$$, to stick the chin out. No. Nowadays, people prefer to whine and moan about how mean the world is to them.
I'm sorry, but I feel very strongly about this. These women should have shown pride, defiance, attitude at least. Instead, they bow their head and whine that a lout deprived them of their triumph. Well, my girls, all I can say is if you behave like a doormat, chances are you will always be treated like one.
And do you know what? All this happens because of those despicable race pimps, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. It's their fault. Instead of teaching victimhood (for their own political gain) they should teach blacks to be proud of what they are and of their achievements, not to whine every time some hick calls them names.
Remember: No one can make you feel inferior without your consent. Words to live by.
And that is why I feel disappointed about these women's reaction to the Imus debacle. What a waste of a good opportunity.
