AP - 13 minutes ago BLACKSBURG, Va. - An eBay account that investigators believe may have belonged to the Virginia Tech killer was used to buy ammunition for the type of gun used in the rampage, according to information on the auction site.

They say Ebay is becoming a popular place for criminals.

Computer forensics have played a major role in the investigation into why Cho carried out the massacre that killed 32 people and himself. Authorities are examining the personal computers found in his dorm room, and are seeking his cell phone records.
Well, apparently they've got some top-flight investigators working on this case.

Ebay and gun stores? Sure, why not get rid of them and a dozen other things law-abiding citizens use a million times a day if they could have been in any way a contributing factor? Then let's spend another ten million dollars looking into every possible angle to figure out what caused this, so we can get rid of holsters, horror movies, video games and Lord knows what else might have killed all those students.

Or, wait, I just had another idea: OK, I'm not a trained criminologist, but maybe - just maybe - we might be able to get a hint from watching the video tape the psycho made to TELL us in no uncertain terms EXACTLY why he did what he did.

Seung-Hui Cho said that the voices in his TV told him over and over again that rich, white American college kids are all evil - and that was why he felt compelled to kill them all.

But so what? I mean, after all, why should we expect HIM to know anything about the inner workings of a deranged mind?

Firearms, Weapons and Knives

Since many firearm-related items, gun parts, gun accessories, paintball equipment and accessories, stun guns, crossbows, airsoft equipment and accessories, hand weapons and throwing knives are not permitted on eBay, sellers must carefully review the ‘Some Examples’ section below before listing these items and adhere to all the policies outlined.

Furthermore, because of the varied international laws related to the sale of these items, those that are permitted may only be sold on eBay U.S under the following two conditions.

• The item is sold by sellers who are located in United States and

• The item location is also in the United States.

Note: US sellers must offer only domestic shipping on these products, since offering global shipping will make the product available in countries where these items are prohibited.

Weapons listed on eBay U.S. must comply with the California Penal Code covering the sale of weapons. Otherwise, these items are not permitted on eBay.Firearms, Weapons and Knives (http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/firearms-weapons-knives.html)

Evidently, handgun magazines are allowed, since they are useless without the guns that they fit, and eBay won't list guns. Ergo, the article is grasping at straws.

Well of course , trained pschy babblers know more about a person they've never met before , far better than an auto biography on film ....

I was thinking maybe he got them more quickly if they were cheaper on Ebay. But dP told me over on my site that Walmart would be cheaper. I didn't even know Ebay sold things like that, so I never priced it. I figured someone would have found a way to make laws against it. They do everything else. Either way, he would have bought them somewhere. I guess you would tend to not worry about cost if you are about kill yourself anyway and you have a credit card.

They do say a large percentage of stuff on Ebay is stolen. But you could probably say the same of flea markets and things like that too. How would you know?

There's no way of knowing what's "hot", unfortunately. One good way to minimize the danger is to deal with sellers with high feedback ratings and a fairly large feedback count. They're usually making at least a part-time living on eBay, and are thus unlikely to do things that jeopardize their reputation.

Uh-oh! Ebay hurts people so it's time to ban it!

I'm sorry, but that authors of that article are retarded. They're not "CLIPS" they're MAGAZINES. Anyone who knows anything about guns already knows that.

So what if that jackass bought his magazines from eBay. Does it really matter where they came from?

What an idiotic non-story.

Only if it means someone else could have known what he was up to and supplied him with what he needed to pull it off. I guess that's why the cops look at it, but why the media picks it up ... well we probably know the reason for that too. This would actually seem to prove there was no such person. I don't think this monster would have the brain power to get help with this. He didn't for getting help he really needed.

I guess it's just a tool to try and look for a reason to ban anything to do with weapons. Anyone want to bet Ebay will stop selling this kind of stuff now?

Anyone want to bet Ebay will stop selling this kind of stuff now?Yeah, if enough libiots complain they will. Ebay says they're "just a venue" but they also stopped selling firearms and BB guns about 8 years ago when they got complaints. Ebay is located in San Jose, CA.
