'I Choose Not To Vote' May Soon Be Ballot Option - Local News Story - WKMG Orlando (http://www.local6.com/news/12933300/detail.html)

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Maybe a congressional race was so nasty that a large number of voters simply didn't want to check the box next to either candidate.

< snip , snip >

Bennett, R-Bradenton, said the no-choice option would enable uninformed or disgusted voters to opt out in a way that clearly displays their intention to abstain for elections officials.

I'll tell you this, if Rudy or McCain becomes the "R" nominee in the presidential election, I want this option for THAT election too!

Judging from the vote so far, apparently a lot of Floridians agree.

I wonder how many people chose not to vote on that ballot issue?

Oh, wait, no I don't.

Question: is this "I choose not to vote" for an entire ballot, or would it be included in each portion of a ballot? I may choose not to vote for/against a specific candidate, or a particular issue, but choose to vote for/against other candidates or issues within the same ballot .

edit: "None of the above" should be the vernacular instead of "I choose not to vote"!

I can see where certain Floriduhians will have a new way of jerking off the voting process with this....with the help of the Dems....I'm sure

I like the option, but the only problem I have w/ it is that even if the "opt out" choice wins the majority vote, the candidate w/ the larger minority vote would still be elected to office rather than finding 2 new candidates & letting the people vote again....so what's the point?

Florida, right? Are they gonna add an "I vote for Chad" option?

I already vote other on most Judge elections who are unapposed. If the American people ever decided to recall a bunch of this rif raf, you would need less sgnatures for the process.

I think it would be good on those ballots. Any body that runs unapposed.
