Fred had a great interview. According to the UK Telegraph (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/04/29/wus29.xml), he is supposed to address the Orange County, California Lincoln Club on Friday.

I can't remember. Anyway, he comes on and completely downed Thompson, and says that Hillary will be the next president.

And that was followed immediately that nappy headed nigga ho Sharptoon, who can't shut up, beating his chest, and is still to this very minute defending his actions when that other nappy headed nigga ho, Twanna Brawley, told her dispicable lies.

I don't ever watch H&C, but heard Thompson was going to be on, so I watched.

Of course Thompson was fine. (It's a little hard to imagine his down home charm ever "backfiring" on him.) But this interview didn't seem like much to me.

I tried to watch it imagining that I had never heard of Fred Thompson before. The interview didn't really cover anything about the guy's politics. It was just a "Hello, I'm here" kind of thing. If I didn't know anything going in, I would have just thought "Well, good for you. But so what?"

One thing that really stood out to me was afterward, when Dick Morris was telling how Hillary is incapable of growth because she's incapable of admitting any kind of fault. He didn't use it, but the word he was dancing around was "arrogance."

What an incredible dichotomy. Can you imagine Fred Thompson having that problem? He and Hillary Clinton are polar opposites.

Thompson may not have Reagan's instant likeability factor (or at least I haven't seen it yet.) But he comes off as the least self-conscious politician I have ever seen in my life. It would be hard for anyone to watch Fred for any length of time without beginning to identify with him. It sounds like one of those lame things politicians say, but he "tells it like it is"; the good right along with the bad and none of that insufferable sugar coating EVERYBODY in politics is always insulting us with.

For us political junkies, Thompson may have been love at first sight. But when it comes to the people who don't follow politics so much, I think he's the kind of guy who grows on you.

I'm re-thinking my stance on the idiocy of starting a primary campaign this early. With most politicians, familiarity breeds contempt. But with Thompson I think the more face time he gets, the better.
