My wife has taught me the value of buying in bulk. So I decided that instead of buying 38 special ammo at $12+ a box I would buy a case. I saw online where I can get Aquila or Magtech ammo in bulk for very reasonable prices. My pistol is not very accurate with the lighter bullets most gun companies are putting out these days. Most 158gr bullets I see are the old fashioned lead round nose or wadcutter. As I do not like to spend a whole afternoon scrubbing out the barrel of my gun I shoot jacketed bullets in mine. They both have 158 gr Semi jacketed hollowpoint ammo that I think would be ideal to practice with and have around the house for my paranoia. http://freeconservatives.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/um.gif I do not plan to use this ammo to keep in my gun for self defense. Does anyone know anything about these two ammo companies? Also does anyone know anything about Diamondkote finishes? I want to get my 38 refinished and saw it online. It looks like pretty good stuff but would like anyones input as I have never seen it in person. Thank you for your help.

Hello fellow Missourian!

I've never heard of the ammo you have talked about. I know that a store in St. Charles sells 38 ammo pretty cheap and it's usually good stuff. (I hate to scrub the barrel of my 38 too)

The store is www.csm-w.com (http://www.csm-w.com)

As for home ammo, I use Federal Hydrashoks.

I have HydraShoks in mine too. M38 is a fixed sight Taurus and it is much more accurate with heavier bullets. You have to use a lot of Kentucky windage with the lighter bullets. At close range it is not an issue but past 15-20 yards it starts becoming a problem. I know for home defense that isn't an issue but would like to be able to hit targets at further distances with something effective. Mostly for animal control. I like to go camping and where I camp at has a lot of wild dogs and is seeming to get worse. I will check out your link. Thanks a lot.
