View Full Version : The Chris Matthews agenda kidnaps GOP debate

Why did Chris Matthews, the moderator of the first GOP Presidential debate, find it necessary to pin down all the Republican contenders their positions on poor, departed Terri Schiavo?
To most Americans, this case would seem to be the very definition of a dead issue, you should pardon the expression.
Yet Matthews chose to use precious time in a 90 minute televised debate from the Reagan library to ask each and every one of the ten Presidential candidates whether he agreed with Congressional interference with the Schiavo case more than two years ago.
Matthews and the other questioners made no similar attempt to drill each of the candidates on health care, education, guns, Afghanistan, education, Israel and the Palestinians, AIDS, Venezuela, college loans, hate crimes, Cuba, affirmative action, tort reform, balancing the budget, or social security.
None of these significant issues received nearly as much attention as Terri Schiavo, or embryonic stem cell research, or faith in politics, or abortion --- in fact, questions about abortion seemed to dominate the proceedings, with Mayor Giuliani forced to address questions about “reproductive rights” on four different occasions.
A Martian who knew nothing of American politics might think that abortion and related human life issues (like stem cells and right to die) represented the chief concern of the US electorate, or at least of the Republican candidates. In point of fact, none of the candidates has stressed his position on abortion in the way that Chris Matthews obsessed on the question in the debate.

In the latest ratings on Drudge it looks like more people watched fox to hear about the debates than did people who actually watched the debates themselves. I just wish the Republicans would refuse to go on PMSNBC like the socialists refused to go on fox.

Maybe not the chief concern, but I'd say it's in the top 3.

The cotton mouth that forms on Chris Matthew's bottom lip within the first 45 seconds of his inquisitions suggests a MAO inhibitor of some kind. Or perhaps an aggressive lithium program. Check it out. Every interview a white ball of lip yap forms in the corner of his mouth like he's been smoking grandma's medical stash. It looks like one of those little styrofoam bean bag pellets.
I've seen that shit on the mouths of the committed, the kind who beat their heads into walls and chant Jethro Tull lyrics at full moons. He is a very disturbed vat of french fry grease spelunked into a large formless nylon sock. A jiggly moh foh with the froggy laugh of an overweight housewife with a Pall Mall addiction. Not even closet pederasts licking the swing set seats at the public park would be seen riding shotgun on this guy's moped. I wouldn't be surprised if he attached jumper cables to his freshly waxed taint while doing the backstroke in a warm saline solution.

I should have known better than to read one of Wyatts posts with coffee in my hand. Ya SOB...
With that being said, who cares which tool asked the questions, none will be around when the smoke clears anyway. Sen T. would have cleaned that clowns clock and old lithium boy would have lip yap all over the freakin place.

I found it very unwatchable (the debate). I was annoyed over and over again by Chris Mathews asking questions then cutting off people if their answers did not match his own agenda. He even cut off (I think it was McCain), because he didn't like what he was saying. When McCain challenged him and said hey I still have 60 seconds, Chris Mathews replied "oops, well not anymore". I look forward to the next debate and I hope that whoever moderates the next debate is not as "annoying, rude, and just completely unwatchable" as Chris Mathews was. Half the time they couldnt even finish their opinions, because he would interupt them with a follow up question if he didn't like their answer.
What a A*& clown. No wonder no one watches this guys show....lol

A meaningless nobody on a loser-loaded cable network -- what a combo. The competition between Matthews and Olberman to be the net's most irrelevant asshole continues amain.

I didn't watch, and quite frankly, what little respect and regard that I had for a couple of the "candidates" is now in the toilet. That loss of respect began at the very instant that I learned PMSNBC would carry the "debate" and The Spitter would be asking "questions."
If any one of those men had had an iota of self-respect whatsoever, he would have announced weeks in advance that he would no be taking part in an America/Bush/Conservative Bash.
The bash started early, early that morning. I caught just the tail-end of Tucker Carlson touting Fat-head, Fat Jowls as up first in the next hour, and PMSNBC "coverage" of the "debate" would continue throughout the day.
Who is that Fat-Head, Fat Jowls guy? Looks like a pasty-faced beached whale. Hosts one of the Sunday Talkers. Ass-kisses Dick Turban and Teddy The Swimmer with every pucker. The last time I saw him he was ass-kissing Bella Pelosi, back before the election.
What the hell is his name?
But you tell me. How can you have any respect for an In-Name-Only Republican who would take part in something hosted by Chrissy Pink-Panties-In-A-Wad, I-Hate-Bush, I-Hate-America, I-Hate-Conservatives, I French-Kiss-French-Jon Carry Matthews?
Assholes being asked questions by the Asshole-In-Chief.

Whose bright idea was it to choose a frothing lefty as the moderator for the GOP debate?

What pisses me off is that conservatives gave MSNBC the opportunity to host said debates.

Yep. We should be snubbing them just as they do us.
