Police Hunt for Student Gunman Wanted in Deadly Shooting Near Fresno Campus

FRESNO, Calif. — Police were searching Tuesday for a student gunman who they believe opened fire Monday night at an apartment across the street from the campus of California State University-Fresno, killing one man and wounding two.
The gunman was identified as Jonquel Brooks, 19, of Hayward, said Jeff Cardinale, a spokesman for the Fresno Police Department. Police said Brooks promised to turn himself in after he spoke with his attorney.
Police originally believed the suspected gunman was hiding inside University Village Apartments, located just north of Bulldog Stadium, but expanded the search Tuesday morning to surrounding areas and other parts of town after determining that he had fled.
The suspect was considered armed and dangerous, and the murder weapon had not been recovered, police said.
A SWAT team was communicating by phone with Brooks by phone and negotiating for his surrender, Cardinale said.
Brooks got into a confrontation with four men shortly after 11 p.m. before he pulled out a gun and started firing, Fresno police spokesman Jeff Cardinale said.....http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,270673,00.html
