Sharpton Denies Questioning Romney's Belief in God During Debate
Wednesday, May 09, 2007
BOSTON — The Rev. Al Sharpton, who recently urged that radio host Don Imus be fired for making a racially insensitive remark, said in a debate that "those of us who believe in God" will defeat Republican Mitt Romney for the White House. But Sharpton denied he was questioning the Mormon's own belief in God.
Rather, the New York Democrat said he was contrasting himself with Christopher Hitchens, the atheist author he was debating at the time.
"As for the one Mormon running for office, those who really believe in God will defeat him anyways, so don't worry about that; that's a temporary situation," Sharpton said Monday during a debate with Hitchens at the New York Public Library's Beaux-Arts headquarters.
The comment was first reported Tuesday in a blog on The New York Times's Web site.
The Romney campaign, which has been wary of campaign trail criticism of Romney's faith, jumped on the Sharpton comment. If elected, Romney would be the first Mormon to serve as president.....http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,270853,00.html

He's saying that Romney doesn't REALLY believe in God, or the Mormans don't believe in God.
"What I said was that we would defeat him, meaning as a Republican," Sharpton said. "A Mormon, by definition, believes in God. They don't believe in God the way I do, but by definition, they believe in God."
So, yes, he's saying Romney doesn't REALLY believe in God. How the hell would that fat little 'ho' know anything about God. That Rev. in front of his name denotes, to me, Rev. of racism, his true religion.
If he did anything REAL for a living he ought to be fired.

So how long will it be before the DBM (other than CNN) report on that?

Sharpton is a Nappy-Headed Pickaninny -and a race-baiting liar. Someone should shove a baked potato down his gullet and sit on him 'til it cools.

Why even post this story? It has all the novelty of dogs-barking or ducks-quacking news. Sharpton does this all the time. Heck, he even incites people to murder. This is small potatoes. Nothing will be done to him by the media, the courts, or anyone else. Last week Glenn Beck, CNN's resident "conservative", even went on a demonstration with him. Sean Hannity debates him in respectable venues, as if his is a voice worthy of hearing. In short, even the media "conservatives" slobber over him. Only video of Sharpton publically beheading Romney would even get him a modicom of criticism.
Surely if Don Imus said that he'd get a nice media crucifixion all over again right? It is well known that Al Sharpton is far more racist than any other so called "man of the cloth" has ever been. He exists only to install hate into his black brothers.

Romney Blasts Sharpton Over 'Bigoted Comment'
Thursday, May 10, 2007
CLEAR LAKE, Iowa — Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney denounced the Rev. Al Sharpton's remarks about God and his Mormon faith, saying it could be construed as "a bigoted comment."
"It shows that bigotry still exists in some corners," said Romney, who spoke to reporters Wednesday after a campaign event. "I thought it was a most unfortunate comment to make."
On Monday, Sharpton said in a debate that "those of us who believe in God" will defeat Romney for the White House. He denied he was questioning the Mormon's own belief in God.
Rather, the New York Democrat said he was contrasting himself with Christopher Hitchens, the atheist author he was debating at the time.

Romney's campaign seized on the comments to criticize Sharpton, and the candidate complained about the remarks on Wednesday, calling them "terribly misguided."....http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,271162,00.html

A few comments here:
1. Put a comma after "Democrat' and we're talking about a completely different person.
2. Sharpton's use of the word "really" means he could not have been contrasting himself with Hitchens, since Hitchens, as an atheist, makes no pretense of believing in God.
3. Whether the Mormons "really" believe in God is another matter. Their concept of God is quite different from that of most of mainstream Christianity. On the other hand, I'd like to know what Sharpton's concept of God is like. We might be surprised to find out what he really believes about God.
4. One reason Sharpton gets some press is that he's not Jesse Jackson, though I see little of substance different between the two.

And the "REV. Jackson" is NOT a REV, he dropped out of school. But i still hear him described as REV. Another mis-nomer!

The "reverends" Jackson and Sharpton got their ordination papers at a K-Mart 2-for-1 Blue Light Special (or maybe from one of those small-font ads in the back of comic books, between ads for Sea Monkeys and X-ray glasses).
