Giuliani Expected to Clarify, Bolster Abortion Position
Friday, May 11, 2007
WASHINGTON — Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani is expected Friday to further carve out his abortion-rights stance, even as his position puts him at odds with conservative voters who might decide next year's primary elections.
Giuliani will address an audience at Houston Baptist University. Aides say he will open with broad remarks about taxes and the War on Terror. Then, he will try to clarify his views on abortion.
Giuliani's aides said his abortion remarks are not meant to be a major part of the speech, but are intended to clear up any confusion Giuliani's previous abortion statements may have caused in the last couple of weeks.
Giuliani has been in the crosshairs of fellow Republicans — especially Ariz. Sen. John McCain, who has been on the attack in recent days — who are staunchly in the anti-abortion camp, and are pointing to conflicting statements and actions Giuliani has made over the abortion issue.....http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,271505,00.html
