Has Leo said anything of consequence since, "I'm the king of the world!"?
By Bob Tourtellotte

CANNES, France (Reuters) - Hollywood star and long-time environmental activist Leonardo DiCaprio has a message for the world: go green now, before it's too late.

As DiCaprio tells it in film documentary "The 11th Hour", launched on Saturday at the Cannes Film Festival, people are living in the last minutes of the final hour before it may be too late to do anything about global warming.

"Global warming is a reality. It is happening," DiCaprio told reporters gathered for the movie's debut.

Last year "An Inconvenient Truth" explored the same environmental issue by telling of former U.S. Vice President Al Gore's long and lonely campaign to educate people and politicians about the environmental issue.

Here are some details of stars and their involvement with the environment:

* LEONARDO DICAPRIO -- He started the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation in 1998 to promote environmental issues. His film, "The 11th Hour", is an environmental documentary on the impact of humans on the planet. It includes former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev and leading scientist Stephen Hawking.

-- However DiCaprio's earlier movie, "The Beach" was controversial in Thailand because of allegations by environmentalists that production work damaged a Thai beach paradise.

Sorry, Leo but your credentials are unimpressive. Being a "star" does not give you credibility on any subject other than acting .. and having sat through "Titanic", I question even that expertise.

In other words... Defagrio hates polluters...¿

Ummmm has he ever seen ANY of his own films? Pollution at it's finest...

Leo wasn't even nominated for an Oscar for acting on Titanic. Considering that the movie was nominated for just about everything else imaginable--and won a lot of what it was nominated for--you have to think he must have been the weakest part of the flick.

How much damage to the atmosphere is done by Hollyweird stars jet setting around the globe ?

By film crews , directors and supporting cast being moved to various locations ?

By people going to see the movies ?

How much energy could be saved by closing down movie theatres and Hollyweird movie sets ?

Just imagine if DiCrapio and Rosie and other know-nothings actually had to WORK for a living ?

It was billed as yet another Oprah bounty hunter show, announcing the capture of more wanted men on the modestly self-named Oprah's Child Predator Watch List, for which she gives out $100,000. But that was a small fraction of what yesterday's "HOprah" show was really about:

Leonardo DiCaprio (or, as we more aptly call him, "DiCrapio") as HOprah's new environmental expert/analyst/correspondent (with cameos by lefty Hollywoodite Laurie David). DiCrapio played at all three, yesterday, with Dicrapio and Oprah lecturing the audience about global warming, along with some annoying academic who made a Gore-esque style film on the matter (DiCrapio is the narrator).

[snip]

* Leonardo, will you give up that gas-guzzling Lincoln Navigator SUV that you drive most of the time and which wasn't mentioned on HOprah?

* Leonardo, will you, too, move out of your oversized manse in Hollywood, so that we little people can stop laughing at your lectures about energy use?Hypocrites HOprah & Leonardo DiCrapio Tell Us to Conserve Gas, Drive Hybrids (http://www.debbieschlussel.com/archives/001092print.html)

And re that court:

Leonardo DiCaprio has been fighting to save the world from climate change — but the star's neighbours claim it is he who is wrecking their environment.

The Departed actor — who will debut his environmentalist call to action film The 11th Hour at Cannes next week — is being taken to task in court for allegedly undermining and trashing the garden of his neighbours' multi-million dollar mansion.

DiCaprio is being sued for "maliciously" crossing onto a neighbouring couple's property while renovating his Hollywood Hills home — cutting and removing hedges, excavating earth and bedrock which the couple claims destabilised their swimming pool and patio decking, according to the lawsuit.DiCaprio 'wrecks neighbour's garden' (http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=266901)

How much extra CO2 does that create?

Another Hollywood "Expert" it's amazing how many Stars get advanced degees in Science between making moviesHollywood University has been cranking them out for years. There was Dr. Jane Fonda, nuclear physicist and nuclear-power authority; Dr. Meryl Streep, world-renowned chemist, testifying to Congress on alar; Dr. Rosie O'Donnel, criminologist and firearms authority; Dr. Leonardo Dicaprio, climatologist extraordinaire; Dr. Oprah, biologist and epidemiologist commenting on "Mad Cow Disease"; Dr. Barbra Streisand, expert on nearly everything; etcetera.

The only thing about which they are universally oblivious is that they're crashing bores.

I believe Barbra Streisand is an expert on elephants, rhinos, toucans, Steffi Graf, and just about every other living creature known for the size, shape and/or color of its nose.
