A capacity crowd of 1,500 people jammed into Lisner Auditorium at George Washington University last night for Al Gore's speech and book-signing. But the numbers don't matter: Even if Gore were speaking before a sellout crowd at Verizon Center, he would still be the smartest guy in the room.
He reminded his listeners of this repeatedly last night.

I honestly can't tell from reading this whether the reporter is poking fun at Al Gore, or trying to compliment him.
The Washington Post is the liberal one, right? So I guess the guy honestly intends this to be a perfectly serious piece.
Yikes.

"It's the biggest problem he's got," said Schwartz, from Germantown. "People don't want somebody who makes them feel stupid."
He doesn't make conservatives feel stupid. If his voting base thinks he is smarter than they are then that doesn't say much about them. Conservatives feel and know that he is as dumb as a box of rocks!
Imagine the Iowa hog farmer cracking open "Assault on Reason," and meeting Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Paine, John Kenneth Galbraith, Walter Lippmann, Johannes Gutenberg, John Stuart Mill, Thomas Jefferson and Marshall McLuhan -- all before finishing the introduction.
Listen to this tool, "Imagine the Iowa hog farmer?" Hey how about your average idiot that runs around on the streets of the big city, you know, the "sophisticates". Try listening to Sean Hannity when he does his man in the street segment; these bunch of IDIOTS can't even name Secretary of State. Again Gore's voting base!
So save it Dana Milbank, because it's obvious from your article that Al Gore is smarter than you....and that isn't saying much!

Of all the liberal conceits - and there are a great many - the biggest one has to be the idiotic claim that liberals are in general SMARTER than the average person.
Look at (by far) the largest Democrat voting blocks: the habitually unemployed; minimum-wage earners; welfare recipients; and union employees. Where, exactly, among these savants is the bulk of this apocryphal liberal brain trust supposed to be located?
Of course there are, in the grand scheme of things, an incredibly tiny handful of wildly over-publicized exceptions to the general rule - liberal celebrities who are unquestionably articulate. But that's not the same thing as intelligence, let alone wisdom.
MORAL superiority is entirely subjective, so it's relatively hard to argue about. Heck, if the Nazis could claim that, then that leaves the door open for literally anyone. If nothing else, they were at least industrious madmen. So if they can do it, then (although I admit it's a huge stretch) I suppose that even the coalition of inveterate and self-congratulating hedonists who call themselves "liberals" can feel justified in priding themselves on their own... well, pride.
But a claim of INTELLECTUAL superiority is nothing if it's not objective. Liberals can call all self-made conservative businessmen "evil" until they're blue in the face - and they do. But (even if a few of us happen to successfully run "dirty" farms instead of more urbane companies) I'm waay more than happy to ignore 99% of the Democrat base and compare our average solely with that of the Communications and Journalism college graduates out there. Those guys are the bottom of the barrel, even compared to other liberal arts "scholars."
I'm quite confident that if I put my mind to it, I would be more than capable of writing an article limited to the ninth-grade reading standard that most newspaper editors mandate. But could Dana Milbank - or even his idol, the "scientific genius" Al Gore - do what I do for a living? Literally, not if their lives depended on it.

Lussee. Gore gore gore gore. Oh, yeah, the one who flunked outta divinity school and pulled C's and D's as an undergrad. The one who lied about union songs being sung to him, about being the one to unearth Love Canal, the one who wanted us to believe he "took the initiative in creating the internet," as though no tech heads were ever necessary and as though DoD hadn't been using its own version of the internet since 1969.
Oh, yeah. He's also the one lying about global warming. The debate is over and all that. As if mankind were significant enough to change the climate.
Yeah, now I remember Al Gore: dropout, liar, former veep, former Senator, whiner extraordinaire. Smart isn't exactly the word normally associated with people who do such things as Gore has done.

And the moonbats - to this day - still talk about how George Bush's Yale degree and Harvard MBA aren't worth the paper they were written on because his father was in politics.
Al Gore had more family connections than George Bush ever dreamed of having while they were in school. But Gore still managed to FLUNK OUT -- TWICE! I don't know if the guy ever even TOOK a single science class in his life, let alone PASSED one. Yet the moonbats worship him as the God Of All Technology.
The malleability of the liberal mind is enough to make you question whether democracy can survive.
Al Gore is not just a liar; he's an extraordinarily BAD liar. The first is an annoying trait in a Commander in Chief; the second is a catastrophe.
Do you remember during the debates in 2000, when Bush said something about a disaster relief effort in Texas. Gore just HAD to say that he was there too. Later, it turned out that Gore completely made that up. But it was the sort of lie that is usually just too blatant to get checked because everyone just figures "What kind of an idiot would think he could get away with that?"
Of course the liberal media tried to downplay this pathological outburst. Instead, they kept commenting on how confused George Bush looked as he stood there, shaking his head, desperately trying to figure out why he never saw Al Gore doing what he claimed he did.
Dear moonbats: there is a huge difference between being DUMB and being DUMBFOUNDED!

Between AlBore and VTY, we know everything. He knows everything except that he's an insufferable imbecile, and I know that.

Ya gotta remember that being an insufferable imbecile is a redeeming quality to any liberal.....along with extended moments of treasonous attitude coupled with doses of hating one's own country, and hating humanity in general!
It's in their manual!

Yeah, but the idiot did stay at a Holiday Inn Express, thus splainin' his super-intelligence! Of course he stayed at the ENTIRE Holiday Inn Express, removing all the common everyday working man fodder from the hotel rooms.

I watched a few minutes of Al Bore on Larry King (to get my blood boiling in the morning). Bore said, "even if the ocean rose just one meter, uh, three feet ..." talking down to the morons who don't know how long one meter is (more than three feet, Bore, you moron).

I read long ago that Richard Nixon was the sorta guy who had to think all his moves and words thru in advance and rehearse them, lest he lose his thread or go off track. That's the perfect description of Al Gore. Gore can't stick to the truth about anything. He always has to embellish it to show what a caring person he is, what an insightful savant he is, how lucky mankind is that he graces the earth. And in no time at all, he embellishes hizself right out of any connection with reality.
However, I do believe he practices this stuff of showing how smart he thinks he is. It's painfully, embarrassingly evident that he practices such things as "...one meter -- uh, three feet."
What a piece a work.
