View Full Version : Weird Question (re: something supposedly "paranormal")

Was goofing around online (for giggles and grins) after catching a snippet of GhostHunters on SciFi channel ... did a search for haunted places to see if there were any listed close to me. Turns out the cemetery my husband maintains is supposedly haunted (although after almost 10 years, my husband has never seen anything out of the ordinary, :smirky:).
Anyhoo, the website that lists the cemetery as being haunted says there are "2 shadow krakens" that inhabit it. So here's my question ...
Anybody know what a "shadow kraken" is?
I googled but didn't see anything that seemed related.
Just curious (Bubba wants to know what he should be looking for, )

Kraken ( "krah’ ken" | IPA RP: /ˈkɹɑːkɛn/ | GA: /ˈkɹɑːkɛn/ | AuE: /ˈkɹaːken/) are legendary sea monsters of gargantuan size, said to have dwelled off the coasts of Norway and Iceland. The sheer size and fearsome appearance attributed to the beasts have made them common ocean-dwelling monsters in various fictional works (see Kraken in popular culture). The legend may actually have originated from sightings of real giant squid that are estimated to grow to 13 metres (46 feet) in length, including the tentacles. These creatures normally live at great depths, but have been sighted at the surface and reportedly have "attacked" small ships.[citation needed]
Kraken is the definite article form of krake, a Scandinavian word designating an unhealthy animal, or something twisted.[1] In modern German, Krake (plural: Kraken) means octopus, but can also refer to the legendary Kraken (Terrell, 1999).Kraken (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kraken)
What "legendary sea monsters of gargantuan size", shadowy or otherwise, are doing in a cemetery in Florida is anyone's guess. They bloody well didn't bury them there.

That's the kind of stuff I kept finding, Doc, which didn't make any sense to me. I was thinking maybe it had a dual meaning or something, related to the paranormal aspect.
Don't matter much, though, Bubba's not seen any kracken's or anything else floating around the cemetery, LOL

Maybe it's a typo and it was supposed to be Shadow "Crakers" (GRIN)

Well now, THAT would make more sense! :smirky: I'll bet they've been gettin' visions of my Bubba out there working in the cemetery ... wonder if he's bending over? http://www.freeconservatives.com/vb/images/icons/biglaugh.gif
(Can't believe I just typed that, http://www.freeconservatives.com/vb/images/icons/icon11.gif )

I think kraken is a local term. When I was 16 and worked on a shrimp boat in the gulf, we had a few cajuns and 1 guy from the pan handle of Florida. He use to tell some wild stories and now that this kraken term has come up I remember a ghost story or two he told. They are an evil spirited ghost, only meaning to do harm to the living. Or at least they were in his tales."

The Kraken is commonly seen on heavy metal cover art circe the mid-80's.
I will have to consult my Rodney James Dio dictionary to be sure, but I think that if this is not the same Kraken from Kraken Auto Zone then it has to be midieval in origin.
Tell your hubby to carry elf blood in crystal vial to ward off demonic Kraken. If you use vial, it will subtract 3 hit points from the wizard who summoned & sent said Kraken since the Kraken is actually a part of the wizard's transmogrified essence.
Another hint. Krakens have a sweet tooth(try placing a HoHo near entrance to graveyard) and are partial to the plucking of a lyre and are known to nod off during lyre solos.
Be well and good luck.
