Cop Sues McDonald's Over Slimy Sandwich

Friday, June 01, 2007

CHARLES CITY, Iowa — A police officer who claims his chicken sandwich was slimed by two teenage employees at a McDonald's restaurant is suing the fast food company.

Officer Josh Douglas said he was working nights two years ago and went through the McDonald's drive-thru in Charles City. He ordered a chicken sandwich, which came with lettuce and tomato.

Not liking vegetables, Douglas said he went to remove the toppings and discovered what he described as a mucousy substance holding them together....

....Douglas and another officer went inside the restaurant, where they found two teenagers working. The employees said they were imitating a prank in a movie in which a state trooper orders a burger and the cook spits phlegm on it.....http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,276958,00.html

The employees said they were imitating a prank in a movie in which a state trooper orders a burger and the cook spits phlegm on it. Speaking of slime, which movie is this, and who were the people responsible for producing it?

I dunno, but I fail to see how this is McDonalds fault.

Two of my favorite things... cops and corporations. What to choose?

McDonald's has everything to do with this. That's who the two asswipes worked for. McDonald's trained them and pronounced them as QUALIFIED to work in their magnificent restaurant.

That's the risk you take when you hire someone. Are they going to be a benefit to your company, or are they going to cost you money in lawsuits.

I don't know how much money the cop wants, but I'm sure he doesn't want a million dollars. That would make HIM an asswipe if he did.

Two of my favorite things... cops and corporations. That's just dumb. A corporation is just a group of individuals pooling their capital to invest it. Could be my or Rhino's or Tex's or Doc's money is in that corporation. Not yours, of course; you obviously don't know why corporations even exist.

Similarly, without cops to suppress idiots, thieves, murderers, scofflaws and other parasites, no society can survive. You have no idea what a dangerous world it was until the idea of paid cops came into being.

the movie was Super Troopers, not very good but it had its moments. not worth the $1 rental.

the kids should be fired, and the cop should get some kind of huge coupon book for free food
but it is mcdonalds food, so would that be compensation or a punishment?

To me that would be punishment because I caught food poisoning from those bastards back in April. Damn McDonald's food to hell. I should have waited an extra half hour to get home, but no. I was undisciplined and I let my hunger get the best of me. I was sick for three weeks. Then I find out that very same "restaurant" had issues with the health dept. the previous month. It would be safer to eat something made in China.

Fair compensation would be about two week's pay, about the length of time he would have been off sick if he had eaten that $hit.
:punish:

how would you notice? The food there is ****ing foul. No word of a lie I one ate a Mc fillet-o-fish and found a worm in it. I threw it away but in hindsight I should have sued. By the looks of things I would have made a fortune.

I think the operative word is "ditto."

What's worrisome is that the obvious has to be stated . . . over and over and over again.

Agree. Although it would be better if'n we could jus' take the punks out back, kick their asses black and blue and be done with it that way.

Growed up civilization is not all progress.

But that's just me. I come from a time and a place where if one pulled out anything more lethal than one's fist everyone else fell on one's ass regardless what side one was on.

Back then it was rare that a man's honor was violated thusly. Those that violated the code were pariah, cowards. . . .

How do you know that the worm in question wasn't one that the fish had eaten?

Hey, if I didn't ask Rhino would have.. Flippin Rhino...

Wasn't the cop dumb for ordering through the drive-through? He'd have been better off going inside and watching them prep the food so he could be sure of what was going on it.

Better yet would be to brown-bag it.

Spit's nothing. When I worked fastfood, you should have seen our hamburger press machine. I could make two patties at a time.

McDonald's trained them and pronounced them as QUALIFIED to work in their magnificent restaurant. That doesn't make them responsible for misconduct on the part of the employee. Let's face it, no matter how much due diligence a company exercises in screening and training employees, it's impossible to always keep them from doing something stupid, or even criminal. Companies should not be held liable for that. If they were, we'd be in huge trouble.

In some cases it can, in others it cannot. It depends upon how good your lawyer is. They may not be directly responsible for their actions, but they can be held liable. Happens all the time.

Happens all the time.Yes, if they're proven to have caused it or contributed to it via negligence. It doesn't seem that's the case here. But think about it. If every company is liable for any action of their employees while on the job, no matter what they do to control them, the implications to business are monstrous. Not a smart thing to do.

No argument here 'bout that. In retrospect, if I were that cop, I'd make the kid eat that sandwich. LOL

People who eat in McSpitburgers deserve what they get. They serve slop. As the reverrrrand Jackson once said he spit in food when he was a waiter. Do you want phlegm with your burger whitey?
