Ah, so the ever-tolerant/compassionate Brahmins of the Left suddendly realize that multiculturalism is not all it was cranked up to be, do they. Not when it happens in their exalted neighborhood.

Local liberals learning new lessons on ‘diversity’

WASHINGTON (Map (http://www.examiner.com/map.cfm?latlong=38.9102 -77.0179&dateline=WASHINGTON), News (http://www.examiner.com/Dateline-WASHINGTON.html?cid=dateline)) - While President Bush and pro-amnesty members of Congress are pushing an unpopular immigration “reform” bill that would bestow American citizenship on millions of people who have no regard for America’s laws, liberal Democrats across the Washington region are increasingly complaining about overcrowded houses, noise, loitering and general public nuisance — all caused by illegal aliens.

These local liberals are in no mood for “celebrate diversity” chants.

Listening recently to frustrated folks call a local radio talk show to vent about illegal aliens loitering in front of stores and cramming into $400,000 houses in their neighborhoods, I wondered if those same liberals accused pro-enforcement Americans of being “nativists,” “xenophobes” and “racists” for complaining about the same problems.

-----

A Republican called in to say her Democratic friends labeled her a racist when she’d complain about illegal immigration. She’d tell them something like, “You just wait until it happens to you. Then you’ll be singing a different tune.”

It’s happening to them, and they are singing a different tune. It turns out that liberals in half-a-million-dollar houses don’t like living next door to a single-family house filled to the brim with illegal aliens who park on the front lawn, throw trash everywhere and urinate outside.

So. How does it feel, guys? Not all that cool, anymore, right?

I am SO glad. Teach them. They brought this on. They wanted it. Now they have to live with it.

Maybe our Imperial Officials will listen to the liberal Brahmins, if not to us. Wouldn't that be something?

Old saying: a new conservative is a liberal who was just mugged.

It'a about damned time the elitist asswarts learned first-hand the consequences of their touchy-feely, multi-culti bullshit.

Here in California, we already know the effects of illegal and chain migration fueled by the prior amnesties. We have already lost affordable housing, small but charming working class towns, farms, inexpensive higher education, cheap bohemian communities, access to recreational areas, etc. When I was young one could drive on beach's for miles, rent/buy cheap beach bungalows, freely traverse state parks, and find areas that were pretty but affordable (a beach bungalow is WELL over a million now).

Our population has increased 20 million since 1970 (19,000,000 to 39 million) and will reach 48 million in another 12 years (according to projections).

But the effects vary. Yuppies and Suburban upper class professionals don't live with the effects. These are the dynamics here, in the SF Bay area:

First, people with money move to the old middle-class small towns and charming bohemian communities. Areas like Marin and Napa Counties then undergo MUCH slower growth because of their steep in increase in the price of housing AND newly imposed local government growth restrictions. These formerly middle-class areas become islands for the well heeled and rich, offering safe harbor to the white classes. These people vote liberal.

Second, retirees flee with their appreciated house value. As they cannot afford Marin or Napa so they first moved to the Sierra Nevada foothills. As that is now too expensive, they have fled out of state - to places like St. George Utah where Senator Benton says they need illegals to help build all the big new homes. In fact, during the 1990's it was the greatest mass flight in California history... and it is still continuing (while foreign migration replaces it at a greater rate).

Third, the rest of us suffer (to varying degrees). The County where I live is divided. The East County is mainly up scale (but not like Marin), and has it's own 'mini islands' of well heeled native born. But it also has other working class areas being swamped. In west county, where I live, it is a working class area that, in 10 years, has been largely taken over by a mix of legals and illegals. About half do not speak English at all, most drive without insurance or driver's licenses (and I got hit by one who drove off), and some bring low-lifes with them (my car was stolen by three of them).

Basically these new waves of people affects working class, petty white collar workers, the small business class, and older communities of older and modest income (but neatly kep) homeowners. The waves that break on these communities shatter local history, community relations, increase crime and fuel land use restrictions (we used to keep horses in our little area, and only wanted to be left alone ...).

Mind you, this is not as bad as it gets. Reports from LA and the central valley recount a score of ethnic gang wars that are seeping North through farming towns. Southern Cal is so bad I won't drive there for fear of having to exit into 'the wrong areas'. Kind of reminds one of South Africa and the dangerous townships with freeways full of cars zooming above them.

So the Marin, Napa, Sonoma, Blackhawk, Danville, etc liberals have their refuges, and tout 'diversity' and multiculturalism to their naive kids, making themselves feel 'pure' by advocating something they would not live with.

The 'also rans' like us just try to survive.

The Democrats would love to eliminate the middle class and have two Americas - the illegal and beholden poor ethnic masses and the rich island white elites that run high tech and alternative energy firms. That is their America and I live it every day.

They want the diversity....but NIMBY!
