RENO, Nev. (AP) - Sen. Barack Obama vowed Thursday to restore environmental protections the Bush administration has rolled back through executive orders, especially at the Environmental Protection Agency, which he said has been "demoralized."

The Democratic presidential hopeful from Illinois also said he intends to spend significant time campaigning in Nevada because the state with an early Jan. 19 caucus date is representative of a Western region he said is the key to the nation's future.

Making his first appearance in Reno and third in Nevada, Obama said much of the Bush administration's weakening of environmental regulations has been accomplished through administrative orders without congressional action.Obama would restore enviro regs Bush rolled back (http://www.lasvegassun.com/sunbin/stories/nevada/2007/may/31/053110275.html)

One hates to burst Osama Obama's liberal bubble, but the overwhelming bulk of the regulations that he is defending were imposed "without congressional action." They were invented on the fly by nameless, faceless, unaccountable pencil-pushers (usually liberals), with no opportunity for input from those who would be affected, and they have the full force of law without the bother of legislating.

Ask any company that spent millions of dollars because the EPA, OSHA and other bloated bureaucracies enforced absolutely meaningless regulations designed only to make doing business in America a regulatory minefield of red tape and utter bullshit. And then people wonder why companies say, "F**k this!" and move overseas.

Yes, we know, Barack. Beef up more government regs and the EPA and scale down intelligence so that terrorists can once again attack our country.:flame:

Anyone want to buy a big ole WV shaped parking lot? It's kinda bumpy but Al Gore started building it, if Obama gets to finish it I will be living in the middle of it.

What the article is talking about (although it does not say) is that Bill Clinton issued a raft of executive orders in the last month of his Presidency, and George Bush rescinded all of them in the first month after taking office.

The rules Clinton tried to impose were absolutely insane - and he was well aware of that fact. For example, he decreased contamination standards to the level of parts per billion, or even parts per trillion. Bush moved the levels back to where they always had been, and the moonbats have been screaming ever since about how Bush "increased" all the levels. But no major mouthpeice in the liberal media ever trumpeted this because they know it would blow up in their faces in two seconds flat - so they just let the moonbats keep repeating it at a level to low to justify conservative media attention.

This is incredibly easy to discredit. It's hard to imagine that even an airheaded like B. Hussein Obama would to try to hitch his wagon to this landmine.

I still say it's suspicious that someone as obviously incompetent as Obama came to be where he is. As near as I can tell, Hillary's plan is for the guy to implode so badly that it somehow makes her look competent in comparison. Of course that sounds crazy, but hey stranger things have happened.

The way things are going Bush will probably have restored them by the time he leaves office anyway.
