President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva Friday told Venezuela's Hugo Chavez to mind his own business, after Chavez called Brazilian lawmakers US lackeys for criticizing his decision to shut down an opposition TV station.

The one below is too long, but I couldn't resist. It's part of reaction I wrote after seeing reading a book review of Crunchy Cons in the National Review:

I've decided I belong to the Greta Garbo conservative movement. I just want to be left alone, like the Amish. The worst punishment one of their members has to face is shunning. They ignore you and leave you alone, instead of dumping a 1040 tax form in your mailbox along with schedules A, B, AB and O, stealing your property under eminent domain and making you quit smoking and go on a diet. I almost envy the infidels in the Middle East. There, they simply get beheaded.

Maybe I should join the Amish, grow a beard and exchange zippers for hooks. If I commit an act of rebellion, I'm actually rewarded by being ignored. Greta Garbo should have been so lucky. Look for my book about Greta Garbo conservatives under the self-help section at the bookstore. Readers can get a cuppa joe with it, but they'll have to add their own cream and sugar.
