My wife and I just bought a Honda Fit it has about 1000 miles on it now, we got the sport 5 spd and let me just say how great this little car is! Im six foot five and fit very comfortably in the car, it seats are really comfortable, it has tons of room with the back seats down and the floor flat. I just cant say how nice it is to buy a car for 15 or 16k and have it be this nice and get 40 MPG!
If your in the market for a small car I would whole heartedly recommend this car, it handles quite aggressively and has more than enough power for what you will use it for.
Why spend 30k for a hybrid when 15k gets you 40 MPG and room for 4 with extra space.

I refuse to buy a Japanese car, or a German car, for that matter, because of WW II.

Hondas are great cars, and that one sounds like a really great deal. (Personally I like more power and need less space, but to each his own!)

Hybrids, on the other hand, are expensive and wasteful gimmicks. Hey, here's an idea: why not just rip out those heavy batteries and the electric motor? Then it'll cost a lot less, and the performance and mileage will be about the same.

Even if the moonbats eventually add enough tax bonuses to make hybrids cost less than a normal car, I'd still hesitate to buy one because I'm not really keen on the idea of ripping off other people like that.

I refuse to buy a British car because of the Revolutionary war. :rotflmbo: Joking.

Every American "FORD" that is bought goes towards the Gay Agenda.

I refuse to buy a French car because, first of all, they suck. And also I figure, why kid ourselves? We all know we're going to cave into the temptation to bomb those croissant-eating prigs eventually.

The Honda Fit looks like a spiffy car ... too small for a bigger family and not as flexible as my pick em truck ...

Your 40 mpg Fit , averaged with my 8 mpg 460 F150 balances out to a respectable 24 mpg ... than you for off setting some of my carbon footprint ! :D

I don't drive that much to justify having a car that gets 40MPG. The longest of my drives are usually 40 mile round trips...and that's only once a week.

If I had one of those things, the gas would turn into varnish before I could burn it all.

40 MPG? The link says 38. And of course, actual mileage may vary. So, it's probably more like 36. But that's still good. A lot better than my pickemup truck.

I'm still running around in my 1999 Hyundai Accent. I paid $5,900 for it several years ago and it is has been officially mine for the last 2 years. Oh yeah, it's an automatic so that the wife can drive it and it still gets 35 MPG.
Still runs like a top and SMOOTH. Take care of it and it will last you forever.

Did an oil change and went with my favorite racing oil Mobil 1 synthetic. 390 mile trip to see my wifes folks we got 41 miles per gallon. Will be adding irridium spark plugs that ive had some racing expierence with to see what that does.

Bigiron, your post certainly was timely. My 1995 Honda Civic, with 181+K miles didn't pass inspection this year here in NY (where there are more junkers on the road than anywhere else--another way to get more money from us), and with that mileage I decided to sell it to an interested Honda tech right then and there. It didn't owe me a cent as, other than routine oil/filter changes and regular maintenance, I had not one problem with that car. It didn't owe me a cent. Before that, I had a Honda Civic CRX, and before that, an Accord.

Getting back to the Fit, I always buy cars new, then drive the hell out of them, so I get my money's worth. I've had my eye on this new model with its impressive mileage (my last Honda got 36mpg) and reasonable price, and have seen great reviews. Thanks for the info.

Right now, I drive a Honda Civic HX CVT coupe that gets 33-37 mpg depending on driving conditions. That's why if gasoline reaches US$3.50/US gallon or higher for regular unleaded it doesn't frighten me. :thumb:

However, I am seriously thinking of getting this car when it arrives in the USA in summer 2008:

This is the second-generation 2009 Honda Fit, coming to Japan the end of this year and the USA summer 2008. :thumb:

I wonder if it will cost extra to get them to move the steering wheel over to the proper side?

The picture you see is the Japanese-market version that will reach dealers in Japan in early December 2007. The US-market version will likely reach dealers here in the USA by early summer 2008.

Would they come with dark tinted windows? I would hate like hell to have one of my friends see me driving something that ugly... lol
