View Full Version : New Internet Taxes Could Arrive By Fall

Your Congress hard at work...
The era of tax-free e-mail, Internet shopping and broadband connections could end this fall, if recent proposals in the U.S. Congress prove successful.
State and local governments this week resumed a push to lobby Congress for far-reaching changes on two different fronts: gaining the ability to impose sales taxes on Net shopping, and being able to levy new monthly taxes on DSL and other connections. One senator is even predicting taxes on e-mail.

I will become the absolute biggest anti-american ever if that were to happen for my Cable Connection, and move that very day. No one taxes my internet.

Nothing is exempt from the insatiable RAT lust for new taxes. What's astonishing is that they are so unfathomably stupid that they believe that more taxes will improve America.
And we again see the consequences of ignorant people being allowed to vote.

Nothing is exempt from the insatiable RAT lust for new taxes.
Except, that it's a Republican, of course, introducing the bill.
If that doesn't happen, other taxes may zoom upward instead, warned Sen. Michael Enzi, a Wyoming Republican, at a Senate hearing on Wednesday. "Are we implicitly blessing a situation where states are forced to raise other taxes, such as income or property taxes, to offset the growing loss of sales tax revenue?" Enzi said. "I want to avoid that."
A flurry of proposals that pro-tax advocates advanced this week push in that direction. On Tuesday, Enzi introduced a bill that would usher in mandatory sales tax collection for Internet purchases.

Except, that it's a Republican, of course, introducing the bill.Republican or RINO? And the RATs love all taxes with an undying passion because they extort hard-earned money from the people without providing anything but threats for not complying.
"Are we implicitly blessing a situation where states are forced to raise other taxes, such as income or property taxes, to offset the growing loss of sales tax revenue?" Enzi said. "I want to avoid that."It NEVER occurs to politicians that the concept of reducing spending is still valid. The only thought that enters their tiny minds is how to maintain or increase vote-buying spending, and f**k the taxpayers who are forced to pay for it, practically at gunpoint.
And the appalling thought is that in their barely functional brains, they "think" that they're helping America.
No nation in history exer taxed itself into prosperity.

The Dems control Congress now, and we can no longer depend of Bush - He's a loose canon and only God knows where his head is on this issue... He'll likely sign anything the Dems send him as long as they continue to support the war and his Mexican invasion...
And yes, the Dems will try this tax just as soon as they can get it on the table - Remember it was the Dems who passed the very first "retroactive" tax in American history, proposed by Clinton - it went back and taxed money that was made BEFORE Clinton came to the Whitehouse - and America swallowed it as usual with very little noise...
Who the hell is this Enzi character? He wants to avoid new taxes by introducing abill that creates new taxes... Did we just suddenly, overnight, slip thru some blackhole into the alternate Bizzaro-world universe?

Republicans are only doing what they perceive to be necessary. In order to pay for $2.5 trillion in extra money needed for schools, medicaid, social security, and other public services the newly amnestied 30 million illegals (including the family members they will be able to import) will require, the rest of you are going to have to pay up. Get used to it. This is your future. And as more pour in, and their numbers increase, and they get the right to vote, then they are going to vote themselves the right to take all of your money they want.

Well you know that's the traditional American way - We have to always beat everyone else at every game... In this particular case, we are going to out-Europe Europe... We are going to take their model of socialism and raise it the next unmanageable, unrealistic, and unsupportable level...
And America will be able to proudly claim the title of the first western nation to totally collapse under the weight of its own socialism...:sulk:

I move that we make an attempt to remove the clause in the Constitution that states, "Congress shall have the power to tax."
Hey, they abuse it like criminals do handguns. If Democreeps and RINO's must abuse taxation then we must do as they do to people with guns and take the priviledge away.:flame:

From the Doom archives ...
Scene: A cafe. One table is occupied by a group of Vikings with horned helmets on. A man and his wife enter.
Man (Eric Idle): You sit here, dear.
Wife (Graham Chapman in drag): All right.
Man (to Waitress): Morning!
Waitress (Terry Jones, in drag as a bit of a rat-bag): Morning!
Man: Well, what've you got?
Waitress: Well, there's egg and bacon; egg sausage and bacon; egg and spam; egg bacon and spam; egg bacon sausage and spam; spam bacon sausage and spam; spam egg spam spam bacon and spam; spam sausage spam spam bacon spam tomato and spam;
Vikings (starting to chant): Spam spam spam spam...
Waitress: ...spam spam spam egg and spam; spam spam spam spam spam spam baked beans spam spam spam...
Vikings (singing): Spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam!
Waitress: ...or Lobster Thermidor a Crevette with a mornay sauce served in a Provencale manner with shallots and aubergines garnished with truffle pate, brandy and with a fried egg on top and spam.
Wife: Have you got anything without spam?
Waitress: Well, there's spam egg sausage and spam, that's not got much spam in it.
Wife: I don't want ANY spam!
Man: Why can't she have egg bacon spam and sausage?
Wife: THAT'S got spam in it!
Man: Hasn't got as much spam in it as spam egg sausage and spam, has it?
Vikings: Spam spam spam spam (crescendo through next few lines)
Wife: Could you do the egg bacon spam and sausage without the spam then?
Waitress: Urgghh!
Wife: What do you mean 'Urgghh'? I don't like spam!
Vikings: Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!
Waitress: Shut up!
Vikings: Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!
Waitress: Shut up! (Vikings stop) Bloody Vikings! You can't have egg bacon spam and sausage without the spam.
Wife (shrieks): I don't like spam!
Man: Sshh, dear, don't cause a fuss. I'll have your spam. I love it. I'm having spam spam spam spam spam spam spam baked beans spam spam spam and spam!
Vikings (singing): Spam spam spam spam. Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!
Waitress: Shut up!! Baked beans are off.
Man: Well could I have her spam instead of the baked beans then?
Waitress: You mean spam spam spam spam spam spam... (but it is too late and the Vikings drown her words)
Vikings (singing elaborately): Spam spam spam spam. Lovely spam! Wonderful spam! Spam spa-a-a-a-a-am spam spa-a-a-a-a-am spam. Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Spam spam spam spam!

With dems in control, I only expect the worse.That would be bad, but I can't help grinning at what would happen to any state rep who voted for such a measure. Even liberals love their e-mail, and I imagine taxing it would be a political death sentence for any representative. It might actually be amusing to watch.

NEW YORK, NY - November 2, 2006 - MessageLabs, a leading provider of integrated messaging and web security services to businesses worldwide, today announced the results of its MessageLabs Intelligence Report for October 2006. In this report, MessageLabs highlights the sudden increase in spam levels as spammers gear up to the holiday season, attributed to a huge rise in recent botnet activities and the latest outbreak of the Warezov virus, responsible for dropping an aggressive spam Trojan.
A spam-sending Trojan dubbed "SpamThru" is responsible for a vast amount of the recent botnet activity which has significantly increased spam levels to almost three out of every four emails. The developers of SpamThru exploited numerous tactics to eliminate detection and enhance outreach such as releasing new strains of the Trojan at regular intervals in order to confuse traditional anti-virus signatures detection. Furthermore, SpamThru employed the "spam cannon" technique and by utilizing a template for each spam it sent out and combining it with a list of email addresses, each zombie was able to pump out millions of spam emails and avoid detection.
[snip]
Other report highlights:
Spam: In October, the global ratio of spam in email traffic from new and unknown bad sources was 72.9 percent (1 in 1.37 emails), an increase of 8.5 percent on the previous month. This is the sharpest rise in spam levels since January 2006, when an increase of 9.2 percent was experienced.Increased Spam Levels Fuelled Through Aggressive Botnet Activities (http://newsblaze.com/story/20061103074538youn.np/topstory.html)
For the non-geeks:
Zombie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zombie_computer) - A zombie computer (often abbreviated zombie) is a computer attached to the Internet that has been compromised by a security cracker, a computer virus, or a trojan horse. Generally, a compromised machine is only one of many in a "botnet", and will be used to perform malicious tasks of one sort or another under remote direction. Most owners of zombie computers are unaware that their system is being used in this way. Because the vector tends to be unconscious, these computers are metaphorically compared to a zombie.
Botnet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Botnet) - Botnet is a jargon term for a collection of software robots, or bots, which run autonomously. This can also refer to the network of computers using distributed computing software.
While the term "botnet" can be used to refer to any group of bots, such as IRC bots, the word is generally used to refer to a collection of compromised computers (called zombie computers) running programs, usually referred to as worms, Trojan horses, or backdoors, under a common command and control infrastructure. A botnet's originator (aka "bot herder") can control the group remotely, usually through a means such as IRC, and usually for nefarious purposes.
<hr>
And how does one's computer become a zombie under the direction of the controllers of a botnet? A: sloppy or non-existent security practices.
• Outdated anti-virus definitions, or no running AV program;
• No firewall or a barely adequate one;
• No security updates for the computer's OS (e.g., Windows);
• Email attachments being routinely clicked;
• Email preview windows turned on (some malware runs just be viewing an email);
• Users (primarily rug apes) who don't have a fugging clue about security downloading all manners of malware-loaded crap;
• Imbeciles who "save money" by downloading "cracked" programs from "warez" sites, which programs are almost certainly infected;
• And on and on.
Basic computer security awareness could prevent 90% of the problems caused by compromised computers. Unfortunately, many if not most new machines are package puters bought from WalMart or other mass retailers by utterly uninformed people who don't have the merest concept of safe computing.
They go online with a broadband connection and become zombies very quickly. And your inbox fills up with shit relayed by their machines.
One assumes that only outgoing email would be taxed. If the asswarts put a tax on every incoming message, we'd all go broke.
