View Full Version : Tribute To Dixie

After eight years of adding pure joy to our lives, Dixie is being put to sleep tomorrow. Her kidneys have finally degenerated to a point where she is in obvious pain, and she isn't eating hardly anything, so it's time. She has always been an extremely devoted Daddy's little girl, and she could always make me smile when times were bad. She was most definitely a member of the family rather than simply a pet, and I couldn't love anyone or anything more. I can't express how much I'm going to miss her. The picture below is a link to a slideshow I created for her.

I'm so sorry Rhino. I too am an animal owner and I know how much pain you must be in. Prayers for your family.

This is a nice tribute for our furry buddies. It's good we get to have them in our life, but it's tough to lose them. Sorry to hear about your friend Rhino.

Rhino,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time. We are facing the same decision, but just haven't been able to bring ourselves to give up yet (our little Taffy is still battling the ravages from the tainted dog food).
I pray the good memories and thoughts envelop you and bring you peace and comfort.
Blessings,
Hms
I've had to do this with 2 dogs already, its always an awful experience. I'm sorry to hear about your loss.

My cat is getting pretty old but he is fairly healthy still. I think my next animal will be a parrot, I hear they live for 150 years. He can just ride around on my shoulder, and I can wear an eye-patch and say arrrgh!.

Yesterday was a pretty bad day. Today isn't looking so good either.
We took her down to the creek day before yesterday so she could swim one more time. She had an absolute blast, but could barely walk after. She had steak for breakfast yesterday. The other dog was very jealous.

It's hell to let go. Been there, done that. The one compensation I had when Scamp went to his reward was that his agony was ended. And I still have him, in a way.

Doing that with Dixie too, but it's a cherry wood urn with her picture on it.

I've still got these two, but Jake is 13 now, and probably not long for this world either. He's going deaf too.
