View Full Version : Voinovich Goes Crazy, Hannity Exposes H. Ass Senator

The seeming 'difference' between the parties in the Senate has been a chimera for a long time. And what I just heard on Shawn Hannity today underscores it (and made me reach for the roll aides).

Before I summerize it let me say that the whole conversation was surreal - it was the most astounding political interview I have heard in my life. EVERYTHING wrong with the Repubican Senate was in an arrogant tirade and venonimous snide and seething tirade by Voinovich. HOW DARE Hannity ask him the obvious questions...Voinovich was ready to be an ass and provded it.

Crying man Voinovich went on the air with Hannity and when Hannity started with "Do you support the Fairness Doctrine" the asshole snidely shot back, with a supercillious tone "Well sure, I'm for fairness in presenting views, arn't you? Arn't you on your TV program?". Hannity was bit non-plussed at the hostile and combative tone, and tried to find out if Voinovich even knew what it was (it was clear he did not nor did he care) so Hannity cut the chase regarding the upcomming vote on Cloture and tried to get Voinovich to explain his reasoning/

It was UNBELIEVABLE - Voinovich acted like a total ass, trying to avoid discussing it rationally. I left for a bit, then came back and Voinovich was claiming he was happy that they had brought it back for consideration because Hutchinson's amendment PASSED and he voted for it...so that shows it was a good idea!

My jaw dropped when Hannity said, "No it failed." Voinovich replied, "But I thought it passed...I'm sure it did because 'blah blah" Hannity then quoted AP and read the story to him...he was totally confused and stumbling, confessing he might be wrong...trying to explain why he still might vote for the BILL after revealling he had NO CLUE as to what was going on. And I was laughing my ass off at the thought this clown was a Senator.

Hannity asked him direct and polite questions - Voinovich went ballastic...constantly threatening to hang up. I could not stand listening to a portion so I left the room steaming, but I returned long enough to hear Hannity ask a final and direct question "Have you or the Senate done a cost analysis"...Voinovich talked about the cost of the fence...Hannity persisted "No let me repeat it...the Heritage Foundation found that it will cost 2.5 Trillion..have you read it? Have you costed out the impact of this legistlation".

Once more Voinovich went ballastic, accusing Hannity of trying to silence and trap him, etc. Voinovich then tried to claim that many people would return to Mexico, and then Hannity nailed him "Sir, if you have not read the study, your just making up assumptions about its findings and throwing stuff out. I ask again, don't you think the Senate ought to know what its going to cost before approving this bill. Is that not reasonable and necessary"

Voinovich WENT NUTS, and essentially sneered at Hannity telling him he was unfair and that HE (Voin) would not stand for this kind of treatment and he essentially hung up.

Friggen unreal - a US Senator who does not even know what he is voting on or how much it costs - BUT by God, he says the Senate has given the subject more than its due (i.e. that means he is going to support Amnesty).

Yep, that about summarizes what happened. I think I find it funnier than others, but it's quotes like this:



"You do not intimidate George Voinovich," he said. "During my 40 years in this business I have always looked at the pros and cons of each piece of legislation and made a determination. If people don't like my decision, they can express their will during the next election."

When Hannity began making the case against the "amnesty" bill, Voinovich interrupted, asking: "Are you happy with the current legislation? Our current laws stink!"


And:

"Fairness Doctrine – I'm all for it, whatever it is," he said. "I think everyone should be open to show the other side. That's what you do every night on Fox. That's great!"

When he was governor of Ohio, George thought it was okay to put a tax on cabonated beverages because he doesn't think that soda pop is food.

Thanks to d'urville for getting the quotes more accurate. I was both laughing and so mad that I refused to take it seriously and stepped out a couple of times.

It was truely an event. To Voinovich's tiny credit, when Shawn explained what the fairness doctrine was and how it worked, Voinovich insisted he was NOT for that...

But how ill educated can our 100 'great leaders' be? And this is the guy who confessed that he had not read anything on Bolton and then went nuts over how "mean" Bolton was to his employeess and voted against him (then a year later changed his mind when it was too late and the Dems had control).

Here is a clue though for your next interview, "make sure you actually know what your talking about". That way you dont make a complete ASS of yourself, oops too late.

When he referred to his public service as a business, m parner and I just looked at one another in disbelief. Business, that's what his office is, a business.

He showed himself to be an arrogant ass, I hope whoever runs against him next time remembers to use this and puts an end to his 40 years of picking the public pocket.

What is really funny, in retrospect, is that he carried on with Hannity, mugging that "HE" would not be intimidated and "HE" would do what he wanted, etc.

Overnight he gets scared, and turns around and votes against the Bill today. LOL.

If you read his office's explanation, it is clear he is giving a half hearted criticism of the bill, and does not spend much time explaining himself.

you are right ...We are into one hell of a donneybrook. If we cannot resurrect the Reagan Dems and pick up the Libertarian coterie...the odds are pretty slim. Some how, the issue must be framed so that their own personal standards will force the majority to rationality! (that is our side, of course).

I had to check three times, I was SURE he must be a democrat! VERY disheartening to see he's affiliated with Republicans.

Just because there's an "R" behind his name, doesn't mean he's NOT a liberal.
