View Full Version : Dems spooked by rise of 'new Reagan'

The Democratic party is so alarmed by the prospect of competing against Fred Thompson, a Republican who portrays himself as a successor to Ronald Reagan, that it is advising campaigners how to attack the former actor and Tennessee senator.

Mr Thompson is not expected to announce his candidacy for the Republican nomination until next month, but Democratic strategists fear the combination of his conservatism, southern charm and populist style could make him a hard man to beat in 2008. Some polls have already placed him in the top two Republicans, underlining the weakness of his rivals.

The Democratic National Committee's campaign focuses on what it regards as the fallacy in Mr Thompson's portrayal of himself as an outsider ready to shake up Washington.

According to the Politico newspaper, the committee has launched a pre-emptive strike, emailing members and branding Mr Thompson "the inside-outsider".
Damn. Talk about lame.

I know we shouldn't help out the opposition, but this is too pathetic to even watch. Somebody needs to spare these idiots six months of floundering and just skip right to the only insult that's going to hold water:

"The Teflon Candidate."

We put up with Bush because we felt we had to. We defended him from about half the crap the liberals threw at him - and now that this loveless sham of a marriage is drawing to a close, we've even stopped doing that. (Let the cheating bastard see how well his moderate lovers take care of him in his old age!)

But guess what? For the first time in a quarter-century, we've actually got an electable conservative by our side.

...And we're going to take care of this one.

I have never heard Thompson portray himself as a successor to Ronald Reagan.

2. I recall Rush saying numerous times that he could measure his success by the frequency and shrillness of his detractors. I think the same holds true of Thompson here. They are rolling out the attack guns in full force, and Thompson hasn't even announced yet. The dems are definitely afraid of Thompson.

Rumor has it that Hillary has taken to wearing Pampers because every time she hears Thompson's name mentioned she pees herself.

This is good no?:D:D:D:D

They never seem to be able to write an article without going on and on about how he is actor and why would we want to elect another actor, blah, blah, blah. They never mention that he has been involved in politics for years and was a Senator in the not too distant past. If they do mention it, it is a small blurb at the end of the article. They are trying to diminish his political experience and try to play him off as just another actor from Hollywood. They really think we are that stupid.

Watching Law and Order right now!

I can't wait for Thompson to mop up the sorry mess of candidates that exist. And counter to Bush, Fred is articulate and a hell of a debater.

A #1 reason to elect Thompson for 'pub candidate, and then, for president.

There is no spectacle I enjoy more than the sight of liberals squirming in anguish.

Bring it on!!!

Liberals think EVERYONE is stupid, and it shows.

Think about it, how many voters - Democrat, Republican, or otherwise - are going to sit around and think: "Hey, thanks for telling me there's a difference between fantasy and reality; I had no idea until you explained it to me!"

Not gonna happen. Very few people think of THEMSELVES as brainless morons. OK, I admit, that will work on the hardcore moonbats - but the Democrats already have those votes in the bag. And they're not going to carry an election on their own.

Actually I think they know we aren't stupid, but they also know there are those out there that are stupid, and these tactics are for "cementing the stupid vote"!

Guess that disproves Dick Morris' theory that people only like Thompson because of Law & Order.

You guys are missing out.

I heard a good roast on it the other day. "Law and Order, yeah isn't that the show where Sam Watterson is just a cynical prosecutor surrounded by supermodels?"

I like it because it first shows the investigators doing their investigating and then it also shows the DA do their thing when the evidence is strong enough. Thompson plays the boss of the DA's, he's kind of like a consultant but he da man, man. Also, which this is very interesting, the shows are fictional but based upon true stories ripped from the headlines.

The episode I was watching before was based on the Terry Schivao (sp?) fiasco.
