Guys, I'm putting this here because I want everyone's immediate attention. After some time, my fellow moderators can move it where they deem appropriate.

Although we have won a good victory with the death of the Amnesty Bill (at least, until after the presidential elections), this was but one battle. The war is by no means over.

In fact, we have another Mother of all Battles ahead of us: the battle to silence conservative radio talk show.

Now more than ever, liberals - and RINOs - will fight hysterically to shut down Rush, Hannity, Savage, Ingraham, Miller, and all the rest.

We must fight back. I'm listening to excerpts on this issue from Pelosi, Kennedy, Reid, etc. and let me tell you, guys, you ain't seen nothing yet.

So. I entreat my fellow freedom-loving Freecers to put the same passion and good hard work you put in defeating the death warrant for America into the fight to defend free speech.

Yes, my friends. There is no rest for the good guys. It's the price we pay for freedom. And it comes cheap, considering.

GOD BLESS AMERICA! POWER TO THE PEOPLE! :patriot:

I've only heard a little on this matter at this point so I'll keep a watch on it. I agree though that this battle will be a knock em' down, drag em' out street brawl as Libs, who already own the media, want the airwaves as well.

I'm with you, Maggie! We just won a battle on immigration. Lets use the momentum.

Apparently Boxer got over 100,000 calls and faxes against the bill and she bitched about it. No doubt we had an impact (they say the calls were overwhelming today) AND no doubt they will start drafting bills to shut down talk radio.

This time I intend to make travel plans to either Washington or to Key Senators. It will take more than calls this time - it will take action in the streets...including civil disobedience.

A really and fundamental liberty is at stake, the most important in our Constitution - the key to liberty. We must fight.

By bringing back the Fairness Doctrine, eh? What's next? they're going to tell the bloggers what to post? I think they did not receive a good ass-kicking with their "immigration" scam. I say let's give them what they really want--A ROYAL ASS-KICKING!

I hear what you're saying, Counselor. How about if WE, conservatives, ask the bastards to apply the Censor Doctrine (a.k.a. Fairness Doctrine) to TV, to MoveOn.org, etc? How far do you think that will go?

However, it doesn't matter. Liberals - and, I may add, traitors like Lott - are furious at conservative radio. It spares no criticism of them. Can't have that. How dare the masses stand up to their masters ... on both sides of the aisle!

Rest assured, they will try to shut down conservative radio. No matter what it takes.

This is a direct attack on the Bill of Rights...

Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

If this traitorous Congress attempts to pass this, it will be challenged in the Supreme Court... The Court will force them to pass a Constitutional Amendment to repeal the First Amendment...

It will be interesting to see where the MSM stands on this direct attack on their very existance...

It will be interesting to see if the President signs such a bill...

To the monkeys in Congress desiring to silence the truth--

Your plot will fail miserably, and WE THE PEOPLE have now been awakened by the scumbags in your midst. Do not attempt any stupidities. You have received a fair warning. You will not get another one. Make the best of it.

Honey, their existence is not under attack. Conservative radio's existence is. Make sure you understand the difference.

Hard to tell, after his latest performances. :sulk:

"They ought not to waste time drawing up bills that aren't going nowhere, hurry up and get the bill on my table so I can veto it and then we can work on real progress." -Prez Bush ( guessing he'd say something like this if such a bill was being drawn up)- or else!

Honey, their existence is not under attack. Conservative radio's existence is. Make sure you understand the difference. :rolleyes:We know that is the aim of the Leftists in CONgress, but any precedent they make on ANY media outlet is a threat to ALL media outlets... And once even the liberal MSM types realize what is happening, I predict that we will see a suprising reaction from them... Eventually they will realize that a law that silences Limbaugh can and will be used to silence them all when the power swings - And it always does...

Hard to tell, after his latest performances. :sulk:We will find out how loyal he is to the Constitution, or how petty he is... This will be the moment of truth...

We may also find out just how dedicated the Supreme Court Justices are to their single, solitary job - defending the Constitution...

Can someone explain to me how talk radio can be shut down? The policy of the United States Federal Communications Commission that became known as the "Fairness Doctrine" is an attempt to ensure that all coverage of controversial issues by a broadcast station be balanced and fair. The FCC took the view, in 1949, that station licensees were "public trustees," and as such had an obligation to afford reasonable opportunity for discussion of contrasting points of view on controversial issues of public importance. The Commission later held that stations were also obligated to actively seek out issues of importance to their community and air programming that addressed those issues. With the deregulation sweep of the Reagan Administration during the 1980s, the Commission dissolved the fairness doctrine.

This doctrine grew out of concern that because of the large number of applications for radio station being submitted and the limited number of frequencies available, broadcasters should make sure they did not use their stations simply as advocates with a singular perspective. Rather, they must allow all points of view. That requirement was to be enforced by FCC mandate.FAIRNESS DOCTRINE (http://www.museum.tv/archives/etv/F/htmlF/fairnessdoct/fairnessdoct.htm)

Per se, the FD will NOT directly silence TR. However, it has a crushing effect on controversial programming. When it was in effect, that sort of programming did not exist.

• Talk radio is found only on commercial radio stations.
• Commercial radio exists to make a profit for the owners.
• The profits are the result of selling advertizing time.
• The rates that can be charged for ads depends on the size of the listener base, based on Arbitron ratings.
• Higher rates can be charged during programs that attract a large audience.
• Conservative talk radio is a guaranteed source of listeners.
• Liberal programming cannot compete because it cannot draw a substantial audience.
• Liberals therefore are obsessed with silencing conservative programming.
• Liberals demand that stations be forced to carry opposing viewpoints that no one will listen to.
• In being forced to do so, the stations will lose advertizing dollars for those periods.
• Good business practice mandates that when a thing loses money, it should be stopped.
• Therefore they will say, "F**k that!" and cancel the conservative programming.
• The libeRAT bastards don't give a shit about fairness. They want censorship.

BTW, the FD does not apply to news, editorials, et al. It specifically targets talk radio

The fedgov is becoming a tyranny. The last time the US was ruled by a tyrant ...

Incidentally, has it ever occurred to cretins like Kucinich, Feinstein, and the rest of the liberal fauna, that LIBERALS are the first to listen to conservative radio?

Just listen to Hannity's voice hate mail. I can tell you how many times I've heard liberals call Laura, Rush, Howie Carr, etc. and bleat their idiotic views: MANY. That's how many times.

Is it conservative radio hosts if liberals need to feed their hatred by listening to their shows? I mean, liberals could spare themselves grief and limit themselves to listening Air America, Rosie, and such. But nooooooo. They love to masturbate their flaccid intellect by listening to what they hate most.

And of course, the excuse is the ever-unconvincing "we want to learn how the other side thinks."

BULL! They want to fan the flames of their hatred, that's what.

I hate liberals. Did I ever mention the fact that I hate liberals? As in "I REALLY hate the f****** retards." :flame:

Yes, that's their new target - "talk radio", known in moonbat parlance as "hate radio".

They WILL gun for a warmed-up "Fairness Doctrine".

ROSE: Have the proponents of this bill done a good enough job to sell it to the country?

PELOSI: It’s amazing. If you take individual pieces of the bill, the American people support it. There is an element in our — well, talk radio, or in some cases hate radio, where they just go on and on and on in a xenophobic, anti-immigrant…

ROSE: Calling it amnesty, amnesty, amnesty.

Or maybe the bill just SUCKED?

I think even Bush would veto this if it'd ever passed, but Hillary would demand it.

Shrubskie looked a little stunned, he repeated his tired lie about how most Americans want immigration reform. No Boooshkie, Americans want Immigration laws enforced. Borders controled.

And Boooooshkie, be advised that while talk radio is an important venue to exercise our 1st ammendment rights. It is the will of the people to govern themselves, that rose up against your Amnesty / Suicide bill. Keep your hands off of our constitution! The day that Dictatorship gains the upper hand in this country, will be a day of reconing that no one will enjoy. Especially those who claim the position of Dictator.
