Candidates' names are tough in Chinese (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070626/ap_on_el_pr/lost_in_translation;_ylt=AnhXxP3wOZYj07jNq31vRQ8DW 7oF)
AP - Tue Jun 26, 8:45 AM ET BOSTON - Mitt Romney's been called many things as he runs for president, but chances are "Sticky Rice" isn't one of them.

And out of all the comic translations of the other politicians, this one is just so ironic...
Fred Thompson might be read as "Virtue Soup." Virtue Soup! That's why Fred is going to win it all... Mr Virtue!

Here's a thoguht, to vote they must be citizens. To be citizens they must be able to read and speak English. So, publish the darned ballots in English and let the candidates' names be written as they should be, as they are.
Oh yeah, I know, that's not sensitive and PC.

PFFFFT! to those Chinese characters. What BaronKelan said. And if you are eligible to vote and your English sucks, too bad so sad!

What the Counselor said. Can we please stop pandering to Asian-Americans who should know better than not being able to speak, read, write English?
Jesus, there's just no phukking end to the amount of pandering and sucking up politicians and bureaucrats are willing to go through. :flame:

Ditto what Baron, Counselor, Magster and Thomas said.
Print the ballots in English...you can't read it, you don't vote. There, problem solved.

If you can't read it, you shouldn't vote. Go vote some place where they speak your non-English language.

But perhaps the most perplexing translation would be for Boston Mayor Thomas Menino's name, which could be read as "Sun Moon Rainbow Farmer" or "Imbecile," or "Barbarian Mud No Mind of His Own."
I wonder what Ted Kennedy's name comes out as.

Even with your Japanese accent!
Japanese speaking Spanish--
Ros Perros der curro no son perros. Son Ranas.
Chinese speaking Spanish--
Los pelos del culo no son pelos. Son lanas.
Translation--
The dogs of the brash one are not dogs. They are frogs.
Of course, the Chinese translates to "The hairs of the butt are not hairs. They are woolens."
The Japanese translates better.<!-- / message -->
