View Full Version : A Remarkable Day

I find yesterday’s events remarkable, if not unprecedented. When has a grassroots effort demolished landmark legislation much against the will of our Senate, it’s difficult to remember anything quite so truely grassroots and yet so powerful (perhaps the temperance movement?).
In what seemed like a “Mad as hell and we won’t take it anymore” moment (an event wherein reality imitates art) the revolutionary dreams of the '60s radicals of participatory democracy and the unfettered free speech movement was fulfilled, not by the Left, but by conservatives.
Think of it. The left’s idea of grassroots has been Hollywood soirees, academic conferences passing resolutions, MSM sympathy stories, and non-profit activists sallying forth with foundation money to declare what the people want. When a cause or person became a target, one has been as likey to get ‘the people’ protests with the likes of Daryl Hannah living in a tree as a stack of condemnations from alphabet organizations (NOW, NAACP, etc.) - all this being their ersatz ‘grassroots’.
In contrast, we had no 1000 dollar a plate fund raisers, no Hollywood celebrities, no political party support, little support in the press, and just a few ‘expert’ organizations to assist (e.g. American Heritage Foundation). All we had were millions of angry citizens, talk show hosts, and Internet blogs. Even our Senate supporters were drab unknowns going up against both the Senate leadership and the President.
Still, none of this should strike us as unusual, this is what the founders expected of the early Republic - hundreds of independent presses churning out the people’s will and directing the people’s servants. Free speech was the root of democracy and liberty, the ability to express the people’s will was more than a right, it was a Republican duty.
Many of our Senate are angry, and demanding accountability - to bring the revolt leaders to heel. Former radical John Kerry, and Chamber of Commerce Republican Trent Lott are calling for our return to servile deference, to return to our supplication. They have reason to fear, all this free speech and participation has chilled the people’s betters and stung them with a grand old American belief that just because you have a title it does not make you any better or brighter than your fellow citizen.
This is revolutionary to our Senate Imperium.
Have no doubt, the Senators will strike back. They have had their way for at least a half century and will not tolerate old style reform movements and new style free speech. And the more we exert our will without them, the more harsh the retribution will be.
But till then enjoy the sun - the masters in our imperial Senate have faced the revolt of the slaves, and they will demand to know which of us is the Sparticus that defied the will of the Senate, who ought to be held to be punished for this rebellion.
And there are a million of us worthy of standing up and declaring “I am, I am Sparticus”.

Listening to Ted Kennedy literally GO OFF yesterday upon learning of the sinking of the amnesty legislation was more than eerie. This guy when into full-on diva mode worse than a Whitney Houston post-crack meltdown.
He sounded nearly evangelical as his emotional eruption of accusatory tones took on more and more momentum, still not fully believing that democracy itself could usurp his pet agenda. Did anyone hear him on Univision sing that Mexican song on Rush the other day? This guy isn't just off his rocker, he's off his meds.
Anyway, regarding fattie's rant yesterday it went something like this: "This is a dark dark day in American politics where the will of the few can hold the rest of us hostage. This important piece of legislation would have been the key to a stronger America."
And further, "I have a question, America, how are you going to enforce legal immigration? How are you going to hunt down 18 million people? Are you going to hire A GESTAPO to go around and yank these poor, poor people from their living rooms at gunpoint? I WANT TO KNOW! You who were against this bill, what are you going to do now?"
Yes, that's right, by inference he associated all of us with the 'gestapo'. Let's do a little word search shall we?
Ge·sta·po (gə-stä'pō, -shtä'-) Pronunciation Key
n.
1. The German internal security police as organized under the Nazi regime, known for its terrorist methods directed against those suspected of treason or questionable loyalty.
2. gestapo pl. ge·sta·pos A police organization that employs terroristic methods to control a populace.
And there you have it. That's how T.K. thinks of all you yahoos out there. As uncreative and cliched as it gets, we are nazis for opposing the softening of our laws. We are backers of some kind of invisible gestapo! We are the luftwaffe from on high bombing his pet legislation.
This is the sound of a child in a grown man's body(or what should be two men's bodies). Piss & vinegar.
This is what the sound of the left is, broken down, screaming and whining in their own shit.
Even after Ted Kennedy took off his sombrero after his Univision publicity stunt, and walked back to the bar for another fifth of tequila, he still couldn't shake it off, as the lyrics of that Beck song overtook him, I am a loser.

This drunken sod has outlived his usefulness a long, long, long time ago.

Only a handful of Senators will try this vengence... Only those who over the last few weeks have tried desperately to raise themselves as kings over us...
Mitch McConnell has lost control of the loose canons on the Pub side... Those even-headed Pubs who are still in the Senate need to seriously consider electing a new minority leader - McConnell is not in control...
McCain has been building his little fifedom for several years now, and Trent Lott is as out of touch with reality as Ted Kennedy is... As noisy and ridiculous as kennedy is, Trent Lott enrages me with his open, blatant hatred and betrayal for those who put him in the Senate... Lott is the Senatorial schoolyard bully - The state of Mississippi needs to send him home to the swamps...
And Lindsey Gramnesty is a slithering snake - all smooth and compremising - but compremising with the enemy... What gave Gramnesty they idea that Republicans were sent by the Right to do deals with the devil?
What burns me the most from yesterday's victory are all the media talkin heads who are blaming/crediting Rush fo stirring up the unwashed masses... I was listening to Fox News yesterday when Britt Hume was hashing it out with the "panel of experts"...
If I had been there I would have turned over their table and started an all-day-butt-kicking-with-dinner-on-the-ground! Fred, Mort, and Myra insulted the American people in a continuous condescending analysis of how Rush Limbaugh is leading us along like rats and how he used us to kill good legistlation... Britt Hume was the only one trying to look at the situation objectively...
THEY DON'T GET IT! Listen up you media whores: THIS IS OUR GOVERNMENT - THEY SERVE AT OUR PLEASURE - WE, THE PEOPLE, STOPPED THIS ABOMINATION...!!!!:flame:

Wyatt's insight is exhaustive of his subject - but it is unusually brief because there is so little of Ted Kennedy to analyze. He is (as his biography amply demonstrates) neither bright, nor complex, nor entertaining. A dull student, a drunk, a sexual predator, a glutton, a careless killer, and a man without any virtue in his public service or his marriage, and having most of the classic sins. And unlike Byrd, he has always existed in a grey twilight without consequence for good or evil, except on the occasion he advances the destruction of America with monstrous immigration policies.
What bothers us about 'Cape Cod Orca' is his buffoonery - his red faced rage of cliques layered on his unreflective and shallow soul. There is nothing of substance within the man, unpeel his few layers and there is no core. He is not even a ranting lunatic - he is much worse, he is a ranting bore.
But there he is - every six years he is sent to the Senate to represent the home of our revolution. A tragic insult to our history.

It seems that they do not yet have the power to suppress us - and if we return to our political hovels, and doff our hats and step off the sidewalk into the street at their passing they will return to self reassured pontification, and denial...and stay the lash.
Fred, Mort, and Myra are also threatened - they are little more that the the tiny scavenger fish that follow the great sharks, or at worst loyal gadflys. They fear the people as much as any Senator, and crave to be thought of as 'important' to the great Republic. Elitists and syncophants...
But we are watching - a million men and women who tasted freedom...each of us a Sparticus...we the people.

By the way, having been caught screaming at the Radio myself I appreciate Laz's point. And yes Mr.Sanity, I think Cartman is a dead on analogy.
And Timber, I also liked your 'white Irish ass' (although I'd not like to kiss it) rant. A small correction, you meant "Oswald" not Booth - but you are right. The stupidest and least moral brother survived. Thankfully Teddy was not a part of the Cuban Missle Crisis team (as were the two older brothers). We would have been singing in Russian and Spanish with a Cuban dialect much sooner.

We tend to forget that this is the precise reason that this nation was formed as a REPUBLIC rather than a democracy. We have degenerated into a democracy and rapidly approaching a mobocracy enroute to a totalitarian structure.
How many of you think that the destruction of the dollar and its effects on the world wide markets will not eventually lead to a crisis of confidence in this mation? In the event of a severe recession (depression), who on this board believes that any form of government other than totalitarian will result since the American populace (despite the access to an unbelieveable amount of information) will UNERRINGLY adopt a totalitarian government that promises them it will solve the problem!
Washington and Hollyweird will dance with joy at the American People's abandonment of responsibility!
