The deputies said they smelled marijuana and searched the car, Amormino said. "He does not have a prescription for any of those drugs," Amormino said.

Albert Gore III, 17, was arrested and charged Aug. 12 with driving 97 mph in a 55 mph zone and reckless driving, said 1st Sgt. A.C. Joyner of the North Carolina Highway Patrol. Joyner said Gore was cooperative during the arrest.

But remember that a few years ago Daddy Al got pulled over in Oregon for doing 70+ mph on a state highway where the limit was 55.So far, Al Sr has given his drunken pothead son tons of credit for entering rehab. I don't think Gore was going that fast. I think the police had to do 97 MPH to catch up to him.

If you're ahead of me and I want to catch you, I have to go faster than you. That's sorta what happened with Rodney King. He was driving a POS 1988 Hyundai Excel when the police closed in on him at over 110 MPH. Everyone thought the Hyundai was going that fast, but it wasn't. A 1988 Hyundai's top speed is only 95 MPH.

Top published speed for the Prius is 105. Not exactly Autobahn material. They're more like rolling chicanes.
