FRENCH President Nicolas Sarkozy has fallen foul of intellectuals and critics who see his passion for jogging as un-French, right-wing and even a ploy to brainwash his citizens.
Attacks on Mr Sarkozy's pastime, which he has made a symbol of his presidency, began on the internet as soon as he bounded up the steps of the Elysee Palace in shorts when he took office in May. That has become the icon of his hyper-energetic administration. The grumbling has now moved to television and the press.
"Is jogging right-wing?" wondered Liberation, the left-wing newspaper.

They are like the left in America where whatever Bush does, it's wrong and they hate him for it. Their myopic hatred is obvious to everyone but themselves.

Being a balanced person is considered "right-wing" IMO.
Typical day for a right-winger: get up, go to work, go home to your family, exercise some, eat healthy, get enough sleep so you can function properly, plan some fun time with friends and family. Plus, setting aside time to worship the Lord.
Lefties are usually very lazy people with a sense of entitlement. That's why they encourage laws where they can steal money from hard-working people.
Long live Sarko!!!!!

They don't want him jogging because the Left wants to keep alive the time-honored French tradition of not taking showers or baths.

Fascist!
Seriously though, liberals are people who see the world subjectively. They don't necessarily hate people who ARE bad; they hate people who make them FEEL bad.
To liberals, terrorists and serial pedophiles are simply misunderstood. As long as the liberal isn't personally injured, he can profess a Godlike understanding and compassion for the very worst of humanity. This makes the liberal feel better about himself, and it costs him nothing.
But people who do more than pay lip service - people who make a genuine effort to live their lives in a good manner - make the liberal feel guilty and envious. That personally HURTS, and that is the only thing liberals refuse to tolerate.

Evidence that physical fitness is a "right-wing" phenomenon?

It's hard to prove things from a negative, but neither of these two is physically fit, and neither one is a right-winger.
