Okay, next Tuesday, July 31st is our very first Girls Weightlifting Booster Club Meeting. I have been working hard to get everything up, running, and going smoothly. We have a website, though I'm not quite finished tweaking it yet. We have our first fundraiser set - an old-fashioned Ice Cream Social to be held the night of Freshman Orientation. We're going to sell tickets, and also at the event, for $2/bowl. Our locally owned grocery store has generously donated the ice cream and a fellow lifter-parent has donated the toppings, we only have to purchase the bowls, spoons, and napkins. So far, so good.

My daughter, (yes she's homeschooled and plays for the public school team :biggrin:), needs elective credits. I'm in the process of trying to get her on the school yearbook committee, but not sure I'm going to be able to (sticky-wicket dealing with the school). So I came up with the idea of creating a newsletter for the team, and she will create and write for it. There are two other homeschoolers on the team (friends of my daughter, Seniors actually) who would be available to write for it as well.

SO my biggest problem is a name, LOL. It would be for the Girls Varsity Weightlifting Team, and they call themselves the Lady Lifters, the team name is Panthers. (Nice and clean, please, :smirky:).

Does anybody have any suggestions for a catchy name for the newsletter?

BTW, if anyone would like to buy a ticket for a bowl of ice cream, let me know, :smirky:. I'm actually working on the fundraising portion of the site, which should be up and running before the event takes place, :D.

That's a good one Doc!

=============================

I talked to the other two girls just a few minutes ago (caught them before practice) and they really liked the idea a lot. I told them we would need to meet once a week, and that our first goal should be getting the first one ready for publishing the night of the Ice Cream Social / Freshman Orientation (which is August 16th).

I was hoping to get a few good names together to throw at the girls at their first newsletter meeting next week, and let them choose the one they liked. Kids aren't often spontaneously creative, but need a gentle nudge to get them started, which is why I thought giving them several to choose from would be better than just saying come up with a name (which could take weeks causing our first publication to be just prior to Christmas, LOL).

Got any other name suggestions?
