People wanting to settle in Australia will need to show a willingness to integrate into the host society, Immigration Minister Kevin Andrews said Tuesday in a speech detailing a further shift away from the gospel of multiculturalism.

As well as sitting a citizenship test and signing a commitment to liberal democracy, intending citizens will need to show a desire to fit in before being accepted as new Australians.

In the Netherlands you have to speak and write Dutch BEFORE you can even come here. When you do come here you have to pass a test. Questions will be asked about our culture, customs, economy and history. You also need to have a job BEFORE comming here.

I believe it started in the 70s by socialists.

My main point was the comment about "christian" weenies. Christians by nature are conservative and conservatives by nature are for less intrusive Government. In other words just to be left alone! The classic Euro liberal is rather conservative by our standards. Many years ago in the U.S. the left co-opted the term "liberal" to define themselves. Before that, a liberal was much like the present-day Euro liberal - classic liberals. So the term "liberal" has come to mean "leftist" in this country. Now that the term "liberal" has been exposed here as really being cover for leftist/socialist/communist movements, those of that group now call themselves "progressives", having abandoned the term "liberal" because of the bad connotation it carries since they have been exposed as commies. Ready to stand up, admit and be proud of what we believe in, American conservatives have no need to disguise our beliefs and intentions through false pretenses, and we are much more like Euro liberals than our American liberals, neé "progressives", are, so we still refer to oourselves as "conservatives." In fact, our liberals vs. your liberals are not remotely similar. Many Americans, such as myself, have never referred to our "liberals" as anything but "leftists" because that's what they are now and always have been.
