Just me. I was gonna do a drum roll and all that corny, old-guy stuff. But then I looked around and realized that there are a whole bunch of old guys around here. Gee. I'm liking it already.

The handle, garlicguy will be plainly understood by those checking the link in my sig. When I started selling and distributing our products to grocery stores in Western Montana, the grocery managers would call out, "Hey Garlic Guy" when they saw me in their stores. It stuck, so I've been using it on the web for a couple years.

Eisenhower and Nixon were among my earliest political heroes. Reagan was probably the best of the bunch that I ever personally voted for. I had a brief fling with Libertarianism in its infancy and watched it self-destruct, (like so many other third party alternative attempts), without engendering any real improvement to our Federal scene. I'm a bit more leary about third parties, though I always look at them, and the Republican Party today is obviously not what I grew up with. So I'm on the lookout for a candidate of integrity, wisdom and statesmanship to lead our Nation back to the higher ground it was founded upon - not further into the slime pit of anything goes in the name of individual rights and/or multiculturalism.

Personally, my wife and I are approaching our 38 wedding anniversary. We have two adult daughters who are married and have children. Between them we have 9 grandchildren (seven of whom currently reside in England). We have some foster kids, including the last two, whom we regard as our own, who live at home being 20 and 19 years old.

We've done lots of different things through the years. As houseparents at a facility in Illinois, we really realized how tough it can be for good kids who age out of foster or institutional care to make their way as young adults. And the answer is not more governmental funded and sponsored programs (read as: hammocks), but rather real people providing real parenting. Hence the other website.

'nuf 'bout me.

I've been knocking around your boards for a couple of weeks - enough to learn some of the Reef Points* to avoid.

I look forward to reading more of the commentary here, and maybe even getting to know a bit about you all.

Thanks for your patience,

gg

Welcome aborad, gg. Since you've been here a little while, I'm sure you've already figured out who the administration members are (red=Administrators, purple/pink = MegaModerators, green=Moderators). If you haven't done so already, you might check out the FAQ's and Board Policy listed in the headers above. I look forward to reading more of your posts.
See you on the threads,
Happy Posting!
