Okay, my brother claims to be a Libertarian, but at this point I don't know what happened to him. He used to be a conservative.
Here's what the conversation was all about:
Joe (older brother): All the presidents that didn't do a thing about the IRS are dumbasses!
Nathan (me): The IRS is not evil, as you claim it is.
Joe: It's unconstituional.
Nathan: No, it's not, besides, what about Reagan? He tried to deal with taxes and stuff like that.
Joe: Reagan was a dumbass! Nathan, all Republicans are really greedy and are trying to get money off of the American people.
End Conversation...
I was truly shocked that my 21 year old brother would say that Reagan, the greatest president in the 20th century, is a dumbass!:flame: I was so pissed, I couldn't reply. He claims that he supports our troops, and that war veterans would agree with him, I figured out that there are war veterans on this! So let's see, war veterans, do you agree with my brother? If you're not a war veteran, then you can post to, I want to hear from everyone on this. Please, help.

Nathan, all Republicans are really greedy and are trying to get money off of the American people.
Well, since tax cuts spur economic growth which increases tax revenue, I suppose Republicans are trying to get money off the American people.

Be so kind as to tell your older brother (who was still shitting in his diapers and sucking on his baba when Ronaldus Maximus left office) that his opinion and a buck will buy a cup of coffee.
Those of us who lived during the Reagan years (excluding the liberalosers who had their heads securely ensconced in their recta) saw eight years of prosperity, patriotism, honor, decency and national pride.
Whatever your brother is reading, tell him to rip out its pages and use them in the john until they're exhausted (multiple sheets allowed), and to research the real history of the Reagan era.

I'll tell him that, but he didn't read this about Reagan, he's basing it off of one movie entitled "America: From Freedom to Facism", which was full of shit if you ask me. This idiot in the movie said that we're in Iraq because of a taxing conspiracy, and that the government was going to probe us.
Joe said that I shouldn't base my information off of one source (I listen to Rush Limbaugh all the time) even though I don't, I actually research it. He's was being pretty hypocritical when he said I shouldn't get my information from one source. Wait till he reads what everybody's saying about him!

So are you supporting my brother or are you going against him?

Reagan was one of our Greatest Presidents of all time. But I think the Greatest President of the 20th century will have to go to Teddy Roosevelt.

Perhaps brother Joe was refering to the belief that the 16th Amendment (The Income Tax Amendment) was never ratified, but simply "declared" ratified.

I know, but any of the greatest Presidents of the 20th century deserve respect, I like JFK (I bet you he would be Conservative in this Generation), Teddy Roosevelt, Reagan, you name it. I defend those heroes, by the way, those who say that I should kick my big brother's ass, I can't, because he's football player and I'm just a horror writer.
So, please, come up with other suggestions.

Make sure he is the center of all of the horror in your writings :D
You could ask him just what was Reagan to do with the Democrat House and Senate he was fighting ... It is a true testament to Reagan that ANYTHING positive happened in those 8 yrs ....
Maybe Big Bro needs to bone up on some history .....
Does Bro have any suggestions on how Reagan could have done better than he did against Tip "his(Reagans) budget is DOA (Dead on Arrival) "O'Neil ??
Or Tx Rep Wright ? or IL Dan "Post Office loans are great" Rostenkowski ?
Reagans Republican backers in the House and Senate were milk-toast and the Democratic controllers were al;l of the likes of Kennedy and Clinton ...

Hi TR, I'm NOT a war veteran (78-75) because I served under Reagan.
Your brother should have served under Carter, then Reagan. If he had, he would know how stupid that statement he made was.

He isn't serving under anything, yet, he was born in December of 86'. But he is studying Criminal justice.

Joe: Reagan was a dumbass! Nathan, all Republicans are really greedy and are trying to get money off of the American people.
Ask him why it is, then, that all the democrats (who are EXTREMELY wealthy people) want to raise taxes when it has REPEATEDLY been shown that cutting the marginal tax RATE (what the Republicans ACTUALLY have done) spurs treasury deposits?
When he gives you some lame answer tell him, "It's because they don't PAY those taxes because of the way they receive their "income"/make their living...they just expect the REST of us to do it."
If he pisses and moans about it, send him to US and WE will straighten him out.

Okay guys, he's coming back home in two weeks. Tell him what you think of him, and I'm going to print it.

Teen, here's a better idea... YOU stay here and become educated as to the truth of life, and let your brother wander around bumping into walls till he learns something of the truth by means of a bloody nose...
You're not going to convince him - For the sake of peace in your house - for your parents' sake, I wouldn't waste the time and energy on goading him over the issue...
Your time is much more valuable than that and is better utilized learning all the great principles that Ronald Reagan taught us... Reagan was simply the 2nd greatest president this country has ever had - The No. 1 slot still belongs to Washington...

Ask him one simple two-part question: What would he have done in the past, and what would he do now?
I predict that the silence will be deafening.

Ask him one simple two-part question: What would he have done in the past,
That is a tricky question , as hindsight is always easier to formulate than a plan "at that moment" ...
and what would he do now?
You mean ... actually ask a liberal to formulate a POSITIVE , forward looking plan ??
I predict that the silence will be deafening.
Nothing but cicadas buzzin' ....
