Both Drudge and ABC have pegged Ron Paul as the winner. I watched that debate all the way through. I thought Paul came across as so totally removed from reality, that it was like he was speaking from a different planet.

Was it just democrats who voted?

Wel, I don't know about Drudge, but did you expect from ABC?

I too think Ron Paul is somewhere out in space. He is as realistic as a unicorn-seeing Wiccan.

I suppose it all depends on how hysterically people want to cut and run from Iraq. Peaceniks LOVE Paul because, like them, he can't wait to retreat.

As realistic as a unicorn seeking wiccan....

I like that. Do you mind if I steal it?

Main Entry:
1 de·bate
Pronunciation: \di-ˈbāt, dē-\
Function: noun
Date: 13th century
: a contention by words or arguments: as a: the formal discussion of a motion before a deliberative body according to the rules of parliamentary procedure b: a regulated discussion of a proposition between two matched sides

This is another word that has been twisted by politicians and their media whores. As the extreme example, what was even remotely related to actual debate at the infamous CNN/YouTube "debate"?

Was the Republican "debate" any closer to being a real debate? I have no facility for watching such things, and I wouldn't if I could, so I'm in the dark here.

I can list a few of Ron Paul's supporters who supported him in the poll: George Soros, Michael Moore, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, John Murtha, Osama bin Laden, Teddy Kennedy, Barbra Streisand, Cindy Sheehan, Jane Fonda, Hitlery Clinton, Barak Hussein Obama, John Edwards, etc., etc.

Yes, it was, Doc. The candidates actually presented their plans. No pandering, no empty promises, no bashing our president, like democrat apoligies for debates.

BTW, I'm not in the dark, but our program is constantly being interrupted by warnings of what appears to be the mother of all thunderstorms in store for us.

I thought the ones who did best were ... some of you are so not going to like me ... Romney and Giuliani. http://foolstown.com/sm/str.gif

Hunter was also great. And there was this candidate, whose name I can't remember, who said his most imporant task would be to protect the family. I LOVED that. :thumb:

But I just CANNOT make a decision until Fred runs.

Ron Paul is an idiot. A senile old fool, whose capacity for seeing things realistically matches that of a Jim Jones follower.

I just wish he would go away.

There was a Pub debate?

Well wake me up when Fred is on the stage... Till then all the debates are meaningless for me...

Add to my list of Ron Paul supporters the name of that anti-American activist, Barry Manilow. He contributed the maximum allowable contribution to presidential candidates Hitlery Clinton, John "Breck Girl" Edwards, Barak Hussein "Osama" Obama, and

Ron Paul.

REALLY???? (Link please)

(If true) I'm absolutely heart-broken, http://www.freeconservatives.com/vb/images/icons/Crying00.gif. The one thing that I had always counted on was his quiteness about political issues. I've never heard him have a Dixie-Chicks moment, or seen him perform in a political rally or political activism. Deep in my heart of hearts, I always had a feeling he was liberal, but as long as he did what he's being paid to do (sing and perform), I could still enjoy his music (and MAN, do I have have his music, all the way back to 45's and LP's [and I'm not talking Longhorn_Platinums either, :smirky:]!)

I'm crushed, really I am.

No link, but my source is National Review, August 13, 2007, pg. 14. National Review's source was the Federal Election Commission's campaign-contribution data base.

Add me to the list of grievers, Sissy. :( I loved Barri Manilow. I especially like (and own) his last CD.

Bloody hell, can't you trust anyone these days? :sulk: Obviously no one in the entertainment business.

Hubby is right. One should treat entertainers like one treats Chinese food: enjoy the flavor, but never, EVER, aks what you're eating. Likewise with these jokers. Enjoy their talent (should they have any), but NEVER ask what their politics are.

Agreed Maggie ... just depends on how openly hostile to my beliefs they are ...

Openly hostile like the Dixie Sluts or Jane Fonda is different than an entertainer that just supports the wrong cause ... I won't even listen to the Dixie Sluts on free radio ...

dP,
That's kind of the way I've been, if they aren't blaring about it on the telly, in the news or magazine articles, at their shows, etc., then they, just like me, should be free to support whomever they choose (no matter how wrong Barry he is, :smirky:). Honest to goodness, I never knew for sure his political officiations, though I suspected his leanings. I've been to two shows (when he FINALLY came to Florida!!!) and not once, not one time was politics ever brought up, insinuated or even hinted at.

I don't like his choice, no siree, but as long as he keeps making his music without resorting to overt activism, I'm going to continue to enjoy his music -- going to pretend I'm a teenager again, listening to Copacabana, not worried about politics.

These debates more closely resemble a bunch of retards playing whack-a-mole at the Chuck-e-cheese. Completely void of any realistic ideas on how to improve the country. There are only talking points targeted to the various special interest groups. If only one candidate would step up and act more like Ronald Reagan and not Ronald McDonald.

Oh, absolutely. Everybody who does not agree with me has the right to be wrong. :D

Seriously. Homes is right, of course. Just as long as Manilow (or any other entertainer, for that matter) does not force his/her activism on me through his/her "art," I don't care what he believes.

Which is why I got rid of my Blabs Streisand CDs (all three of them). I'm certainly not going to spend my money to advance her activism.

I never liked Barry Manilow (I prefer classic country music, blue grass, or jazz), but I agree.

Problem is when these actors and musicians get such inflated egos that their opinion is worth that much more than everyone else's, and then have to forcefully share. Too much money and influence and no one to regulate them, its like giving a kid a loaded gun and telling them to go play.

I used to like Chevy Chase until I saw him on the TV in regards to Bush, "I hate him and someone should kill him." Its pathetic.
