I was curious how many here carry concealed weapons (firearms). I do, I know Warlady does and I'm pretty sure I've seen others say that they did as well. But I can't remember any of the details.

Living in the People's Republic of Illinois, it is illegal:

The "May-issue" states should read "May not-issue".

That map doesn't appear entirely correct, or there are differences anyway.

I don't know if it will work here, but this is a cool map.

Very cool map, Rhino.

I carry concealed. I've carried legally concealed since April 1996, just after then-Governor Bush signed the bill into Texas State law.

In Colorado, we can have handguns in cars for protection, but it doesn't go as far as that, I think. My family owns several firearms, but my brother, the one who called Reagan a dumbass, has six, or something like that. I do not know all of their names, but I do know some.

Me: 12 Guage, Partner, Pump Action, Black Shotgun

Dad: Double-Barreled 20 Guage

Brother: Mossberg, 22., and that's all that I know, he gave me my shotgun.

They didn't allow it here at work before, but the signs came down after that university shooting recently, so I carry every day now.

My Mother-In-Law* was the first to get hers in our family (she lives right behind us with my Sister-In-Law behind her). We are hoping to take the course as a family soon (my daughter can actually use it as an elective for her homeschool high school credits,). So far, unfortunately it has bee cost prohibative, which is why we haven't done it sooner.

*On a side note, just after my MIL got her CCP, she had reason to use it (her gun). She was drinking coffee one morning and saw what she thought was an animal up on top of her daughter's roof. It was large, so she went and got her gun and started walking towards the house -- turns out it was a man looking through the bathroom skylight at my SIL taking a shower! My MIL popped one off and started yelling, you shoulda seen that feller run! The Deputy Sheriff came out and ruled it okay, then they caught the guy.

I too lost all of mine. Mine were lost when an unreported meteor fell on the house and they were destroyed.

Wife & I both qualified for CC....but elected not to get the actual paperwork....if ya know what I mean.....
However, here in Montana, everyone pretty much "carrys" as the rules are rather lax.....federal bldgs, bars, etc. Almost all pick-ups sport the obligatory gun rack and weapon of choice. As far as handguns........the majority of us locals have something that is "readily accessible"!

Sucks to wait on the state, don't it?

Free people don't need carry laws. We have a God-given right to protect ourselves. The 2nd Amendment affirms that. Just be smart about where and when you carry.

They can't put everybody in jail.

Thought I might have to pull mine out yesterday. They had this big event called Old Fashioned Days and a group of teenagers got into a huge fight. Some punches were thrown, but I don't know if anyone connected. There was one heck of a lot of yelling and screaming, and it had all the hallmarks of a gang incident. My wife and I were sitting at the picnic tables with about a hundred other folks eating when this was going on right amongst us. My wife turned to me and asked, "Do you have your little friend with you?" I said, "Yep."
