Ann Coulter

In their latest demonstration of how much they love the troops, liberals have produced yet another anti-war hoax.

The New Republic has been running "true war" stories from a brave, anonymous liberal penning dispatches from Iraq. The famed "Baghdad Diarist" described his comrades joyfully using Bradley fighting vehicles to crush stray dogs, mocking a female whose face had been blown off by an IED, and defacing Iraqi corpses by wearing skull parts on their own heads.

Various conservatives began questioning the plausibility of the anonymous diarist's account — noting, for example, that Bradley vehicles don't "swerve," as the diarist claimed. The editor of The New Republic responded by attacking the skeptics' motives, complaining that some conservatives make "a living denying any bad news that emanates from Iraq."

But when that clever retort failed to quiet rumblings from the right wing, The New Republic finally revealed the "Baghdad Diarist" to be ... John Kerry! Actually it was Pvt. Scott Thomas Beauchamp, Democratic candidate for president circa 2028. (That gives him 20 years to learn to pronounce "Genghis.")

In revealing himself two weeks ago, Beauchamp lashed out at "people who have never served in Iraq." He said he was too busy fighting "an actual war" to participate in "an ideological battle that I never wanted to join."

Man, Ann really shines in that piece... She shakes em like a puppy with a rag-toy... What a gal!:thumb:

At the same time, the Left just demonstrates again that they are no longer willing to disguise themselves as "thoughtful questioning liberals"... They have gone into full blown Marxist revolution mode, complete with bald-faced propoganda lies... This is the stuff that the Marxists swept into power with in Rhodesia...

For those of us who are watching and able to read the trends, this is an indicator of just how looney the upcoming presidential election is going to be...

The RATs are in full jump-the-shark mode. They've abandoned any pretext of logic, reason and truth. 2008 is going to be the most vicious, loathsome, despicable explosion of RAT hatred in US history. And the DBM will be liplocked on their asses. The soul of our nation is at stake.

Doc, jog my memory... Was it the '68 Democratic convention that went totally looney? It was in Chicago, right? Riots in the streets because some fringe radical factions believed they were being frozen out by power brokers in the convetion...

I fully expect this next campaign to be at least as insane - Maybe worse... And that may just be our salvation...

When Middle America sees Homos, Leftist conspiracy nuts, and radical illegal aliens all clawing to get their planks on the party platform, it may just be the killing blow that drives America running to the arms of the Pubs...

The question is, will WE have a better candidate to offer them...

Events Leading up the 1968 Convention Riots

The primary cause of the demonstrations and the subsequent riots during the 1968 Chicago convention was opposition to the Vietnam War. Young peace activists had met at a camp in Lake Villa, Illinois on March 23 to plan a protest march at the convention. Anti-war leaders including David Dellinger (editor of Liberation magazine and chairman of the National Mobilization Committee to End War in Vietnam) Rennie Davis, head of the Center for Radical Research and a leader of Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), Vernon Grizzard, a draft resistance leader, and Tom Hayden (also a leader of the Students for a Democratic Society) coordinated efforts with over 100 anti-war groups.

Groups related to this effort also planned events. Jerry Rubin (a former associate of Dellinger) and Abbie Hoffman (both leaders of the Youth International Party (YIPPIES) planned a Youth Festival with the goal of bringing 100,000 young adults to Chicago. They tried to get a permit from Chicago to hold a YIPPIE convention. The permit was denied, but the YIPPIES still came.

On March 31, President Johnson announced he would not seek re-election. Johnson's favorability ratings were in the mid-30% range and polls showed even less support for his Vietnam War policies (about 23%.) The announcement created uncertainty in the anti-war groups' convention plans. Many anti-war activists also became involved in the presidential campaigns of war opponents such as Sen. Robert Kennedy (D-NY), Sen. Eugene McCarthy (D-WI) and Sen. George McGovern (D-SD).

However, by early April there was much talk of Hubert Humphrey, Johnson's Vice President, running for the presidency. Humphrey officially entered the race on April 27th. Because of his close identity with the Johnson administration, the plans for demonstrations were not cancelled.

Other events preceding the 1968 Democratic convention contributed to the tense national mood. On April 4, civil rights leader Martin Luther King was assassinated and riots broke out throughout the country. (This included Chicago, where Mayor Daley reportedly gave a "shoot to kill" instruction to police.) On June 3, artist and cultural icon Andy Warhol was shot. Finally, on June 5th, presidential candidate Robert Kennedy (President John Kennedy's brother) was shot in the head after winning the California primary. He died the next day. There also were countless protests against the Vietnam war at this time. Student protesters effectively shut down Columbia University in April.Brief History Of Chicago's 1968 Democratic Convention (http://www.cnn.com/ALLPOLITICS/1996/conventions/chicago/facts/chicago68/index.shtml)

That was an example of what happens when treasonous assholes are given free rein. IMO, they should have been mowed down with no more compassion or pity than the Orkin Man gives to cockroaches. They played a large part in making the deaths of tens of thousands of US soldiers in Vietnam utterly meaningless.

"Support for the war from our rear was completely secure while the American rear was vulnerable. Every day our leadership would listen to world news over the radio at 9AM to follow the growth of the antiwar movement. Visits to Hanoi by Jane Fonda and former Attorney General Ramsey Clark and ministers gave us confidence that we should hold on in the face of battlefield reverses. We were elated when Jane Fonda, wearing a red Vietnamese dress, said at a press conference that she was ashamed of American actions in the war and would struggle along with us ... those people represented the conscience of America ....part of it's war-making capability, and we were turning that power in our favor." Colonel Bui Tin (http://www.lcompanyranger.com/weapons/colonelbuitinpage.htm)

It's a shame that we no longer execute traitors.

This is absolutely infuriating. The New Republic has gone totally Goebbles. In fact, they could have taught Hitler's minion a thing or two.

In an ideal world, these freaks would be dragged out and put in front of a firing squad which would turn them into Swiss cheese for their treason.

And NO, we're not talking the forking 1st Amendment here. We're talking lies, sedition, and all-out treason. Bastards!

As for "Private" Beauchamps, give me 5 minutes with this moron. Just five. :flame:

What does "jump the shark" mean?

DoctorDoom
08-10-2007, 05:55 AM
Jumping the shark is a metaphor for the tipping point at which a TV series passes its peak or introduces plot twists which are inconsistent with what has preceded them. Once a show has jumped the shark, the viewer senses a noticeable decline in quality or feels the show has undergone too many changes to retain its original charm.[1] The term derives from an episode of Happy Days in which Fonzie jumped over a shark while on water skis.[2][3][4]Jumping the shark (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jumping_the_shark)

It has been expanded to mean something that becomes so foolish or outrageous that it loses any trace of credibility.

“Jump the shark” refers to the precise moment at which a TV program loses momentum or begins the process of losing the element that made the show popular. The phrase comes specifically from an episode of “Happy Days” in which Fonzie jumps over a shark with water skis. Fans argue that the show became less realistic after that. The web site JumpTheShark.com is dedicated to fans debating the precise moment their favorite programs “jumped the shark.”

But “jumping the shark” can also refer to a trend or even a line of argument. And as a post on the web site Moonbattery.com has noted, environmentalists’ sky-is-falling global warming rhetoric is jumping the shark because of its inconsistencies and contradictions.Live Earth: Global warming has “jumped the shark” (http://www.openmarket.org/2007/07/05/live-earth-global-warming-has-jumped-the-shark/)

And in the same way, the RAT opposition to Iraq has jumped the shark. The Beauchamp travesty is what the RATs must resort to in order to maintain their self-perceived momentum. It's all downhill.

Both '68 and '72 were held in Chicago, and both conventions turned out to be pretty wild. McGovern ended up giving his acceptance speech at something like 3 in the morning, which was prime time in the evening--in Guam, where he was very popular and won in a landslide in November, taking all zero of the island's Electoral Votes.

It appears that, though I took the phrase, "Jump the shark" literally, I used a different interpretation for the word "jump" than what the original intended.

Even the Fonz wasn't THAT wild!

Seems like just yesterday when I watched the Fonz try to leap that dorsal fin. Chachi nearly shit a brick. Joanie was shrieking in the crowd for him to "STOP, DON'T DO IT ARTHUR!" He paid no heed. Just like when he had to put the Malachi brothers in their place.

Leather jacket resolutely zipped up, riding the wake, when he finally met the ramp his milk white thighs quivered then nearly collapsed on impact. Not enough vitmain C in the Italian hood rat diet apparently.

I thought he was gonna choke. But, miraculously, he arched his back, kept his head up and lept up with enough aerial action to give those Milwaukee blue collar beer sillers a full leg split, a helicopter and then a heel kick. The Fonz was a rennaisance man. Never formally trained in the art of water trix, it was his will alone that carried him through the day.

That was never a defining moment of Happy Days perversion. No. It was real bonafide cinema ver-it-TE.
