I don't know whether this is the right place in the forum to ask this question. But does anyone here know of a website where the text of James Burnham's conservative classic Suicide of the West is available?

As far as I can tell, the book has been out of print for some years.

Alex.

Hmmm, not sure if I can help you find a online version, though I would be interested in finding one too. You can try, however, Amazon or other places where you could buy used books. It might not be in print, but someone somewhere might be trying to sell their old used copy. As long as a book is readable it is still priceless.

Becareful about buying stuff over the internet though. Make sure your computer doesn't have any nasty bugs that might make your financial stuff vulnerable.

Suicide of the West (Hardcover) (http://www.amazon.com/Suicide-West-James-Burnham/dp/0895265990/ref=sr_1_1/105-0476036-3688416?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1187028814&sr=1-1) available on Amazon.com.

Thanks for the feedback.

I'd noted that second hand copies of Suicide of the West are available at Amazon.com. But I try not to import stuff from abroad via the internet. I've lost money that way - though I know Amazon is trustworthy of course. (I guess I'm being a bit greedy, and trying to get something for free).

Burnham's book is quoted all over the place online, and seems very well known in the US.

Incidentally, George Orwell wrote an appreciative essay about Burnham in 1946 - a long time before Suicide of the West was written.

Another good read is "The Late Great U.S.A." by Jerome Corsi. I was awaiting its release at the end of July, and was lucky to find it (in spite of the little suppressors at B&N). Can we say, "Mexifornia?"

Thanks. Yes, I've looked for Suicide of the West at Amazon UK. The only copies available at a reasonable price are shipped from the US.

Second hand copies for sale in the UK cost the equivalent of about $50 (minimum)- which is a bit over the top.

I've got the public library on the case, and they seem likely to locate a copy which I can borrow.
