It seems there is a clash of personalities here that I can no longer endure. Some here have aggravated the situation, so much, my only option is to leave.:shame:

Hey, stick around. If everyone agreed on everything, it would get boring and noone would learn anything new. Debate is presenting ones views and being able to defend them or change them. That's how we learn. I'm 62 yrs old and learning more each day. I'm firm in some of my opinions but have changed a few also. All due to the debates here at FC.

If you have an issue of personalities with someone, PM them and get to the bottom of it. I'm sure most here would be willing to talk/type to you in private.................

Pendragon, FWIW, I want you to stick around. The clash of ideas is a good way to test our knowledge and preconceptions.

You are an asset to FC.

Buckeyepete said it best, Pendragon, what fun would it be if we always agreed? If we did, we would be like the robots over at the DU. I say stick around. It's always good to see you post. If I disagree with you on something, I always do so respectfully.

I thought that pen was a hit and run article poster

Looks to me like he wanted to stay off the board, but just couldn't keep himself from coming back. Sort of like FC was crack and he just didn't have the willpower. So he decided to hold up a bank and shoot at the cops for a quick and lasting detox.

I guess it would be redundant at this point to bring up the really nasty PM that I got from him not long after I first arrived here, when he accused me of stealing articles from "his sites" and posting them here.

Somewhere on my harddrive I've got the entire exchange saved.

I'll hunt around and see if I can find it.

It was really quite funny.

The dumber I played, the madder he got.

To call Doc an asswipe?

Something has really set his hair on fire.

Pendragon_6, you're an ass. I know I'm considered a newbie and I have no right to say that, but I needed to say it. Why the hell would you leave now? You were okay in the position you were in, you had no reason to leave. Sure, there is a clash of different opinions, but that's the fun of it. :shame:

Something has really set his hair on fire.Supposedly, it was me. He seems to think people here are against him, and accused me of the same when I agreed with someone he was arguing with. It was a rather minor point too, but he was being nasty to the other person, so I can only assume his anger was already fired up at that point. It was a gross overreaction, and I'm sure there has to be some other underlying reason. But that's apparently what set him off on this particular tirade.

That's too bad to see him leave. :( I thought he was a neat guy and a valuable asset.Same here. I was hoping he'd simply calm down and get over it, and told him as much. But his behavior in this thread pretty much sealed his fate. Pity, but some people who make great contributions will sometimes get in a pretty bad snit over stuff, and nobody else seems to really know why. I don't know what really got his knickers in a wad, but I guess it doesn't really make much difference now.

I think it's a slam against the forum, letting lookie loos see that a member is dissatisfied with a long-time forum.

If the lookie loos look at that thread, they won't consider this much of a slam against the forum. Their reaction would almost certainly be similar to TeenageRepublican's, something along the lines of "You gotta be kidding me!"

http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l294/Longhorn_Platinum/semi-serious.gif It wasn't us pissing them off, so much as them pissing us off. Sometimes you just never know about some people, & they just suddenly show their real colors. But in Pendragon6's case, I'm hoping there was something bothering him that had nothing to do with us, & he'll come back asking for a little understanding. I think that most FreeCers are forgiving people.

Oh, so they become pissed off when you tell them the truth, good reason.
I'm pretty forgiving, as long as it's a true apology, even if it isn't I'd still forgive him. Because that's what Christians do, forgive.

He was a nut!!!! I remember a long time ago I got into it with him in a thread, and I had him pinned on how his reasoning made no sense, and that he being a hypocrite and contradicting himself . He just went berserk and lost it completely. He then sent me a weird PM like Lub's and it said something like "Don't ever embarrass me like that again you little Sh*t." I'm pretty sure I alerted the Mods about it when it happened as well.

Some of the issues we deal with in this forum can get very passionate. Passion arouses emotions and emotional arguments are easily refuted. Getting shot down on something with which you hold passion can be frustrating, and the more frustrated you become the less intellectually sound your arguments become. Even an otherwise solid person can have moments of irrational rage. The thing about a written medium is that you have time to think about and compose what you write. You have that moment between the muscularization of the thought via your fingertips and the transmission of that thought via the "enter" button to consider the implications of your post. Do I really want to post this? Is this really a valid point? Such questions can be answered in the luxury of time, whereas an exclamatory "Dammit" at an inopportune moment might be harder to repress.

That said, there is no call to act in the manner in which Pendragon acted, nor is there any call to show hostility to the mods. They are, after all, hosting a forum which allows you to voice your opinions. That does not mean that anyone needs to agree with you. If you cannot handle political discussion in a calm, level headed manner, then you should not be investing your time in such a forum.

LOL,

I have seen many such meltdowns on many forums.

Most of the time their parting shots are so different from the usual choice of words normally seen posted on the forum boards.

Believe me that Pendragon 6 meltdown was actually a mild one.Compared to the ones I have seen.

They vanish in a blaze of flames but the flames die down and life goes on.
