Okay, so the headline was an eye-catcher, if not entirely true, :smirky: -- I'm only mimicing the brillinance of MSNBC!

MSNBC gets snookered by a fake Sharpton quote (http://hotair.com/archives/2007/08/24/msnbc-gets-snookered-by-a-fake-sharpton-quote/)

Newsbusters (http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2007/08/24/msnbc-gets-duped-parody-website-uses-satirical-al-sharpton-quote) and Ace (http://ace.mu.nu/archives/238216.php) are both on this, and NRO’s Media Blog was the first (http://media.nationalreview.com/post/?q=ZTQ2NDAwZDYwMzczMjUyMjliNTM3ZWEyMDMyZTdlYmU=) to note it: Looking around for a quote about Michael Vick, MSNBC’s Alex Johnson finds one from Al Sharpton that certainly sounds like the things the Rev typically says, so Johnson includes it in his story (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20411561/).But at the same time, Sharpton argued that the prosecution of Vick was overkill.

“If the police caught Brett Favre (a white quarterback for the Green Bay Packers) running a dolphin-fighting ring out of his pool, where dolphins with spears attached to their foreheads fought each other, would they bust him? Of course not,” Sharpton wrote Tuesday on his personal blog.

OK, Al, we'll let Vick use his dogs to tear up yours. Is it still overkill?

But at the same time, Sharpton argued that the prosecution of Vick was overkill.
It's all about race, eh Al! I guess you don't feel that Vick should be punished because he is black and was probably once oppressed.

Al, :stfu:

The quote was a hoax from a parody site -- MSNBC bought it hook, line, and sinker and posted it in an article. http://www.freeconservatives.com/vb/images/icons/biglaugh.gif

Not possible. They're part of "the serious media" with layers and layers of supervision and filtered editors and dedicated, professional journalists, rather than members of the unshaven pajama brigade where no one pays attention to what anyone else says, no one filters anything, nobody supervises and the most outrageous lies and made-up bunkum and plagiarized stuff regularly slip thru to embarrass ...

. . .

Wait a minute ...

Did you get snookered too, brudder?
Yep! I saw a chance to bash Al Sharpton so this hungry fish took it all, hook, line and sinker!

:sulk: Note to the Rever-und Sharptongue: If Brett Favre was caught doing what Michael Vick was doing, he'd be in more trouble than Vick, because Favre wouldn't have BLACK RACISTS like yourself demanding leniency.

Moo, it was a hoax! MSNBC posted a quote from a hoax site, and got caught with their pants down, so to speak, :smirky:. Sharpton DIDN'T say it!

Still, it wouldn't surprise me if he did.

The funny part about this is that the Rev Al will probably say something much dumber and more racist! :ooo:

 Sharptongue is still a racist (last I heard, he still hadn't offered any apologies for the Tawana Brawley incident), & nobody ever defends white people by saying they're singled out for their race. So there's still truth in what I said.

Yes, Sharpton MIGHT say something just as stupid, but the point of the story was the stupidity and lack of integrity (they can't even check their sources and verify their stories?) of MSNBC (and the MSM in general).

That people miss the point is surely a testimony to how this kind of thing (the MSM passing off false information) can so easily happen, and has probably happened frequently.

We KNOW Sharpton and his ilk talk out of their rears, and we really can't do anything about that. But we NEED to be more vigilant when the MSM offer up information regardless of who says it or how it sounds like something they'd say. If they can't even get that right imagine all the OTHER stories they have wrong and all the sheeple who are out there believing them.
